Having promotion and relegation in a sport changes the mentality of the sport and makes it more realistic because in real life people are promoted and relegated. I'm an American but I stopped watching NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB years ago because it's boring and it's been the same teams at the top for years now. It's great having MLS in the United States but we need at least two more leagues so that relegation and promotion can be added. There are a lot of talented futbol players in the U.S. Definitely enough to create two more leagues. If Wrexham can make it to the Premier League that would be a great accomplishment but staying in the Premier League is a completely different story. ^ ^ KC

There will be no merging of leagues with relegation/promotion in the US Ever A team owner (very expensively) buys into a League. When have you heard of a capitalist giving money back? Unless MLS has a financial collapse, leaving the sport with a blank slate to rebuild, the best you could hope for is a club affiliated tiered system like Baseball, 2 or 3 development leagues.

Yeah, these two are far gone, there's no going back for them. They've tasted the sport and witnessed first hand what it can do to a human. In fact, they've had serious skin in the game for a while, so their experience is 10 fold a normal spectator's. Hopefully the inevitable correction that's bound to happen (progress is never linear), they won't get stressed out of their minds and start to become too hands-on. The way they do it now is perfect, so they need to stick with it through the good and bad times. They're really unto something and if they keep this up, there's really nothing to stop them from breaking into the EPL. That would probably be one of the most insane stories of this century if they do make it.

No dig at Wrexham as I love the story but you might want to look into Luton town, that's already the fairytale. Relegated from the old First Division (top division before premier league started) on the final day before it rebranded, then relegated all the way to the conference league (old name for the national league) after a 30 point deduction and then promoted back to the premier League in 11 years without multimillionaire celebrity owners

@@SVD978 It's happened a lot of times, when I first started watching the Premiership Oldham Athletic and Swindon Town were in the Prem. These days Oldham are in the National League and Swindon are only one league above them in league 2, Wrexham are already ahead of both of those clubs. They have a fan catchment area of the whole of North Wales, international fans coming over thanks to the TV show exposure which opens up another revenue stream, the owners make stadium improvements and community involvement a top priority and acquire players very sensibly and don't rush or splash crazy money for overpriced overhyped players. I'm sure if you asked the majority of Luton Town fans who when they got relegated from the football league in 2009 and nearly bankrupted would believe you if you said that you will be playing Premiership football by 2023. Swansea City came one game away from getting relegated to the football league but fans took over the club and began to run it sensibly making steady progress until they made the Premiership and won a League Cup , there are dozens of other examples of this. Wrexham have a great chance of making the Premiership and could do so by the end of this decade if they continue to build as well as they have so far because other teams with less means than them have done it.

For Ryan in particular the investment into Wrexham wasn't really about the club per se...at least originally. It was how he could leverage the club to provide a boost to the community. That was his initial focus because he never really cared about sports. You can actually see the moment he becomes a football fan in Season 1 of the documentary. He attended a game at The Racecourse and Wrexham managed to score an equalizer in the last minutes and win the game in injury time. At the end of the match, Ryan was just slumped over in the corner overcome with emotion. Since their takeover North Wales as a whole has benefited. After all Wrexham of all places is now a tourist destination for people from around the world. Those tourists need lodgings to stay in and restaurants to eat at. That means more business for the places in and around Wrexham. Those places will need to hire more staff to cope with the additional business. That means more jobs for the people in and around Wrexham. Those newly employed local people now have more money to spend in and around Wrexham.

In the pre-1992 structure, the top 4 leagues were Division One, Two, Three, and Four, and Wrexham’s peak (most recently in the 1990s) was in the old Division Two, which is now called the Championship.

I think R&R are in for a rude awakening next season, no more playing in leagues where most of the clubs are glorified Sunday league sides. Fully a third of the teams they'll be playing in the 1st division have been in the prem at one point or another over the past 10 to 15 years. They have the facilities and the revenue to make Wrexham's and their lives very difficult.

And that is before the summer turnover and the US/Kanada tour and the Mexican investment that just went through. L1 can be done in just a few years. Tito did the math and came up with 3.3 for L2 and 4.5 for L1. They will do it faster again, just not next season. The Championship is another problem. Let's be honest, there is nothing unique or special about Wrexham or Wrexham FC because it is simply made up of people, just like every other town and club all around the world. The novelty will wear off and the viewers will stop watching once Wrexham's success starts to plateau. Will you keep paying the bills when 'This is Wrexham' stops being made? Will you keep coming back to games when the team is back in League 2 / Non-League football with the dream of the Premier League dead? Of course you won't.
