Ryan Neil Bonsai demo - BonsaiKunst

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Ryan Neil was born in Colorado, USA, in 1981 and grew up there, on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. The fantastic trees in that landscape instilled a deep appreciation for trees. He studied horticulture in college and, after graduation, spent six years apprenticing for bonsai master Masahiko Kimura. In 2010, after completing his apprenticeship, he settled in Portland, Oregon, to build up his bonsai business “Bonsai Mirai“. Ryan Neil is a very popular bonsai teacher and valued demonstrator everywhere in the world and has successfully established his online bonsai school “Mirai Live”.
With many thanks to BonsaiKunst Hamburg for creating this online demo!

Ryan Neil=Best Bonsai teacher in the western world! Ive been a part of his platform, Mirai Live, for right at 2 years now and I'm here to tell everyone, for the price, if I can afford it anyone can! He is basically giving the information away! Not to mention the way he teaches and quantifies every little aspect of the bonsai practice is unparalleled and unrivalled by any other professional in my opinion. Yes there are other amazing "traditional" professionals in the western world but Ryan in my opinion is setting and has been setting a new degree of what bonsai could be and what bonsai should be. He has the knowledge from college (not meant to rhyme lol) and the studies from Japan that mash up to give you the best of it all. Not to mention real time live Q&As every week and even a platform to show and ask questions to Ryan himself about your own personal trees. He will answer it all! Him and Peter Warren are by far my favorite professionals.

Absolutely agree. I've been growing bonsai since 1991, got into it pretty heavily (and yeah, I'm old!) IMHO Bonsai Mirai is by far the best educational tool for bonsai I've ever come across. There are so many things I've learned that I've put into practice, that I often find myself wishing I had this information years ago.

pacific bonsai expo spoke volumes. talent and self promotion are not related. there are some very humble masters like the winners of the exp. where is Auburn Ca anyway? i like these videos too. seeing every ones trees side by side was amazing. those who entered choose the winners. truth be told. all far beyond what i can do. i applaud them all

I think Bonsai is highly subjective. What might look great to some maybe horrible to others? Learning the basics I think is the most important, sticking to one way of thinking is naive and ignorant IMO. I believe everyone should have some set of freedom because otherwise, Bonsai will never evolve. Can you imaging if everyone had the same haircut, each painting in a gallery was the same. I admire Bonsai artists who can vary their interpretation from classical and abstract along with natural. I can see Ryan learned the fundamentals well and is trying to place his own style with the material that he is given. Great work.

Ryan have you considered moving the lower bottom branch slightly to the right ( direction of movement) ? The thicker part of the downdrop conflicts with the general flow. Just my personal opinion. What do you think?

I agree. I was struggling with what was bothering me about the video. I love his passion for bonsai and it certainly was a great looking tree. But somehow I struggled to keep up with the shear volume of verbiage. I hope this is taken as a critique and not an insult.

I name this "Laughing Dragon". The right side is clearly a snout with a wide open mouth. The Apex is the head and brow. The left side is the back of the dragon's neck, complete with vertical ridges along the spine.

Most American bonsaimasters continue with taking bonsaimaterial (yamadori) from the nature while the bonsaiidee is just protecting the nature ! I think that nature is enough under pressure !

Really ? They collect everything away until only flat land is left ? Nah.... you are complaining in the wrong place. They do not deforrest football fields of trees every minute. You should learn to focus on important targets for your criticism. Maybe it would help you to understand, if you joined a bonsai group just once for tree collection.
