For everyone who needs to hear this today: You are Kenough. EDIT: Just wanted to share my favorite point that the movie made: what men need in order to truly discover who they are is the support and encouragement of other men; the idea that men need to dominate women to have an identity, or even merely that men require a partner, girlfriend, wife, etc. in order to have any identity at all is a poisonous illusion that not only harms women but cripples men's emotional lives and isolates men from each other. It makes the men that should be our brothers into threats and keeps us apart. Kens, you all look so cool.

The Kenergy I felt when listening to this song for the first time was more than sublime. The song demonstrates how lonely a Ken can feel under the pressures of the world, but then shows how that once Ken confronts his feelings and shares them with all the other Kens, he is not alone in these thoughts. All the Kens, experiencing the same conflicted isolation as Ken, come together in unity and realize that they are not alone in this cruel world and can rely on each other in a bromantic Kenclusion to the song. It was a truly Kentastic experience and this song will go down in history as one of the Kenfamous songs of an era.

@pyroronpa

I guess that's one way to look at it. I took it more as a critique of when women say "I want an emotional man.", or ask "Why don't you express your feeling more?", but then when he does, they're not interested. Then that gets me thinking, some men just don't want to get emotional and find ways to express themselves other than with words. So then when someone does try to pry at their emotions, they just become more of a nuisance.

@@strongback6550 Bro definetly didn't watch the movie 💀 Only men expect this, while women expect to be able to participate in it. During history men have always been in power, which creates the feeling of what your comment said. "The world relies on us" except it doesn't. If women were taken seriously, you wouldn't feel that way. Either way, it is mostly women the ones that say men should express their feelings more, being mostly other men those who shame men for crying or feeling anything.

Oh wow that's such a nice analysis! That's absolutely true! The obsession that our societies have on sexual/romantic relationships as something that completely defines someone has put men and women in horrible situations. It shouldn't be a life goal to search for love and validation from someone else. This obsession has put men in situation where they wouldn't feel comfortable sharing a traumatic experience, for example, because "men are always supposed to be in wanting of a relationship", or have their whole sexuality questioned just because they don't want to get involved with someone. I like your analysis. Both men and women, and everyone in between, should be happy and fulfilled with their own selves! Your comment has made me see this video - and the movie - on a whole new light!

@@MrYuargai I didn't get this. I remember when at the end she was sad that she is not good at anything and she said that she didn't have any part in helping them to get back barbieland. But the message there was that she was actually a key figure in everything. That's why I found it assymetrical at the end that Ken is enough as he is (doesn't has to find meaning in others) but Barbie is totally okay getting her identity from being herself in her own way. Unless the message is that your identity should be established by anything than your love towards someone. I also didn't get why Ken is good as he is when all the jokes were about that he is incompetent because his only identity was "beach", the fur coat expresses this too (hiding the lack of talents by extreme appearance).

The whole Ken storyline is such a clever mirror of second wave feminism. It baffles me how so many call this movie anti-men when the Kens’ arcs are literally finding empowerment within each other when they were sidelined and made to feel secondary in their society. A huge message of this movie is that social extremes are inevitably set to oppress everyone - even those whom they typically favor. Stereotypical Barbie literally feels useless in her matriarchal society because she is made to believe that she needs to be perfect in every way to be worth something, but she’s enough just being herself. And guess what?? This goes for Ken too!! True feminism seeks equality between women and men, and this movie does such an amazing job arguing for that.
