Ryan Blaney Comments On the 'Lack of Respect' in the NASCAR Cup Series | Dale Jr Download

Спорт

In last week's show, Ryan Blaney explains the difference between racing now in the NextGen car and racing around the time when Dale Earnhardt Jr retired in 2017. He says the car has a lot to do with how drivers race each other these days.

There’s several reasons for this. 1. Safety. Safety innovations have made it so that drivers don’t fear when someone crashes. Drivers don’t fear someone they wreck getting hurt. 2. Cars are disposable. No longer are the days where there’s only a few cars a team owns. Even the lower funded ones. Drivers know they’ve got other cars and just don’t care what the consequences of them are. 3. The drivers themselves aren’t the way they used to be. Because of money and because of everything in relation to the profession, we’ve been left with a sport that pushes out perfectly capable drivers in favor of young guys. Kyle Busch is about to be the longest tenured driver in cup.

@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT Nice to see another who agrees with me on this issue. Yes, the 3 start and stop stages are the worst thing and cause more incidents then they were intended to help. The Stages did at one point help the sport with the cars in the second season of the full on stages once the drivers got used to them and kind of worked with the older Gen 6 car at most places with a few exceptions of tracks like the short track or a few drivers. Now with the Gen 7 car with the tight rules the stages seem to have drivers going more aggressive then before cars being equally matched, my thought to cut costs, move every division up and cut out the Xfinity/Bush series moving the Sportsman series into that slot then add in Sportsman light where they are lighter cars with smaller engines but same design/as close as you can have to work with the series, then bring back into NASCAR the Late model midget cars, the 4 cylinder cars that look like they are from the 1930's.

Dale, I'm 74 years old and a lifelong racing fan. Of course a big part of that has been watching NASCAR evolve. I will watch anything and everything race, cars, boats, planes roaches , and even motorcycles. But I am rapidly tiring of the drama that now surrounds NASCAR racing way too much. There are some good races and good, heartwarming story lines but the drama every week reminds me of a damn soap opera. The sport is to contrived, too controlled by NASCAR. Sponsors, owners, and drivers should have a much bigger say in how the sport is administered. I suggest if NASCAR let the "big three" have a ( theoretical) 60% share in rules, how cars are built, etc., and NASCAR have a 40% supportive, and administrative role in the sport,... things would get better. Put racing back into the hands of racers.

Why can’t we flash back to 2005 where people would literally slow down on the straightaway or wave their hand out the window to let someone pass? That was personally my favorite era of racing. I felt like the era of clean racing was over when Brad Keselowski made that move on Jeff Gordon at Texas in 2014. Each year clean racing has gone away more and more. Now with more young drivers than ever before in the cup series, the lack of respect is completely gone.

@@shaunt7301 is that a problem? It’s always been hard to pass and we saw plenty of guys yesterday and at many points throughout this season get passed and pass guys back. We saw it like 4 times for the lead in one run at Richmond. You let guys go and all of a sudden you get crazy spread out racing cause everyone is right where they belong on speed, without even watching guys actually race each other for position. That’s what we got in the 2000s and especially in the 2010s. The vast majority of the racing was just bad.

I love how honest Blaney is and I don’t remember a time he has spun someone. Great observations on what’s about to happen though. It also makes him fun to have in the booth. I think he knew how guilty Chase was, but didn’t want to call out a friend. Was still honest enough to compare it to Bubba & Larson and basically saying Chase had just had enough though. Just a level headed guy and why he will be the only guy I cheer for when Harvick’s done.

Ryan is a genuine nice guy, happy for his success. Tough calls, moderating aggressive driving with abusive driving but it should be possible to make that distinction. Ross chastain for instance, i like his aggressive driving style it makes the race interesting, if you notice, since he was “talked to” 3 races back, his performance has faltered and thats unfortunate in my opinion. I dont think he is one who doesnt care if he runs someone over, its just he’s aggressive and the style gets him in trouble occasionally, then everyone loves to hate him. However, there are drivers who always seem to be in the middle of the drama, like Denny, Bubba, Chase and a few others, but they dont seem to get the same scrutiny as does Ross. If its BLATANT and results in ending a guys day, take action, otherwise let em race.

Follows function function follows form it's easy to see look at the whole country everybody is at everybody's throat over everything that you can think of and when drivers are able to start voicing their opinions on who's to blame on social media before they've even gotten out of their driver's suit it seems like the minute we curl out of the car we got to get on social media and analyze what the other guy did to him that's a problem right there remember how things used to be we will say anything about anybody on social media but I highly doubt that face-to-face we wouldn't say those things and many times we never did mostly because we'd get her butt kicked and now everybody rips everybody on social media bring back well I'd like you to tell that to my face see the problem there and no one is we live in a blameless society where it's always the other guys fault no one will admit to doing anything wrong because the consequences have been made so dire in terms of which side you stand on right or left what the ramifications will be like chase after the wreck being interviewed and standing there pumping Us full of s*** when he knows what happened and then the other guy Danny saying well he wrecked me and he did it was obvious real obvious he drove that car straight for a good hundred to 200 ft before he decided to merge over into Denny's quarter panel and hook him into the wall at a high speed well think about Chase being in the position he has been in because of his accident he is very desperate and so is everyone on this track it has become a dog eat dog world and the facilitation of this new car that is indestructible allows most of this stuff to take place every lap between drivers until they've had enough the culture shift arrived and it's here to stay you get what you got and what you got is your run what you're brung stop cheating that'll never happen but the cream will rise to the top or should I say the people with money will rise to the top cuz single car teams can't compete with the multi-4 car teams that's ridiculous to even think they can and I'd say it's very exciting maybe them NASCAR officials how to let the drivers knock a few heads around and on their ass to straighten them out as to how they drive and can get away with it and who can't I take a look at what Mr h and Mr Gordon more or less threatened Ross Chastain for wrecking their cars their Stars he wouldn't tolerate it and since then it's like Ross Chastain can't drive anymore and can't drive anymore like we typically I have seen him drive his performance is non-existent now wonder why seems a little strange.

I'll add to what he said, the cars are indestructible, minor contact before this car would end your day, so drivers avoided contact as much as possible prior to this car. There are also drivers in mostly good equipment who feel they are "owed" a good finish. My car is better than yours, so in their mind respect means moving over and letting them win. A driver in a second or third tier car that moves over like that won't be in the seat for long. Everyone in the garage liked Matt Dibenedetto, he drove respectfully, now he's stuck in a second-rate truck team. Winning and high finishes are all that is valued if you don't have built in huge sponsor money.

Denny makes the SMT data fit to whatever he wants. When Denny wrecks someone, he says it was not intentional , but the data says different, but he will claim that it shows he did nothing wrong. He's a hypocrite child.

I like that guys race each other hard for every spot now. You can race hard but clean. Like JR said they raced like that in the 90s. If you race a guy dirty you get some payback. Otherwise it’s just good hard racing. It’s way better to have guys actually race each other instead of letting everybody go. Who cares about respect? This is not the gentlemen’s sport of formula 1. This is nascar. A blue collar sport. You earn respect by being good and winning, not by being a pushover. That’s NASCARs roots. NASCAR left their roots in the 2000s and everybody complained. It was popular for a while when it was a bunch of cleaned up big city drivers racing on cookie cutter tracks in big markets around the country every week. Driving cars that all had the same ugly body that looked nothing like an actual street car. But now that nascar goes back to their roots fans still complain. In the cup series they’re good enough to race hard but clean the vast majority of the time. It’s a bit of an issue in the truck series cause they aren’t very good yet, but that’s also why they’re in the truck series. It’s so they can learn. So I don’t think a lack of respect is a problem at all. Makes the racing better even if it makes it a little harder to pass.

It's only going to get worse as each new class of driver makes his way up the NASCAR rung. More and more of them are using iRacing as their primary source of practice. That game is just a bunch of people driving into each other like an arcade racer. The only thing its missing is people driving backwards on the track

Nascar as a whole is going downhill I thought they easily would have entered another golden era in terms of talent across the board in all 3 series but these new cars are dogshit stage racing is boring as hell too many cautions no real need for strategy , charter system while sometimes good screws over better drivers out of rides for younger guys, short track package the roots of the sport terrible the safety wasn’t good last year cars are really slow all the parts the same across the board no more trying to get an advantage anywhere like true racing I get cutting costs but it’s cutting the overall performance of the sport

Let's stop the whining. Y'all been taking each other out since the beginning of racing. Just watch the NASCAR Road Rage series of videos here on KZread and see how all the old timers and today's stars raced and bumped and wrecked each other routinely. Tony Stewart would be banned in today's world but he's a legend now. Just let them police themselves and keep nanny NASCAR out of the way. Now every owner is going to demand someone is benched every time there's a wreck. Bunchabullshit...
