Vom Surfer zum Barden zerbrechlicher Zuversicht in einer Dekade: Ry Cuming hat es vorgemacht und muss wohl so schnell keine ernstzunehmenden Konkurrenten erwarten. Mit Alben wie „Dawn“ oder dem letztjährigen „Unfurl“ schwebte der australische Singer-Songwriter scheinbar ohne Flügelschläge auf seinen eigenen Bahnen gen Himmel und nahm jeden Menschen unweigerlich mit, der sich auch nur für ein paar Momente Zeit nehmen wollte. Oft nicht mehr als gehaucht, manchmal den Tränen nahe, ist der falsettierte Gesang von RY X Ausdruck einer in sich ruhenden Künstlerseele, der schon minimalste Mittel für eine tiefgehende Auseinandersetzung mit traumverliebtem Art Pop und entrückendem Folk reichen. So warm wie das Wiedersehen mit einem lange vermissten Menschen, vermag diese Musik beides: Sehnsucht wecken und mit Glück erfüllen.
Vom 22.-25. September fand das Reeperbahn Festival 2021 nicht nur vor Ort sondern erneut auch im umfassenden Livestream statt. Seit dem Debüt im Jahr 2006 hat sich das Reeperbahn Festival zu einem der wichtigsten Treffpunkte für die Musikwelt entwickelt und zeigt, wie sich ein überbordendes musikalisches Line-Up mit musikwirtschaftlichen Interessen und zivilgesellschaftlichem Engagement verbinden lässt.
Neben Konzerten umfasst das Programm auch Formate aus der Bildenden Kunst oder Virtual Reality sowie ein thematisch vielfältiges Film- und Literaturangebot. Im Rahmen von Sessions, Showcases, Networking Events und Award-Shows können Fachbesucher*innen des Reeperbahn Festivals Musik neu denken, erleben und hören.
Unsere Festivals finden im Zeichen des Miteinanders statt- Rassismus, Sexismus, Homophobie und Ausgrenzung finden bei uns keinen Platz.

Within just a decade, he went from being a surfer to a singer conveying a fragile confidence: Ry Cuming has forged his own path and isn’t likely to meet serious competition on his way. On albums such as Dawn and last year’s Unfurl, the Australian singer-songwriter seems to float up to the heavens, taking along anyone who stops to listen for even a moment. At times the falsetto vocals of RY X are ethereally breathy, or on the verge of tears - the expression of an artist’s soul that knows itself and that needs only minimal tools for a deep journey into dreamy art pop and folk reveries. Warm as a reunion with a long-missed friend, his music can do both: awaken longing and fill you with joy.
From September 22-25, Reeperbahn Festival 2021 did not only take place on site but also in a comprehensive livestream once again. Since its debut in 2006, Reeperbahn Festival has become one of the most important meeting points for the music world and shows how an exuberant musical line-up can be combined with music business interests and civil society engagement.
In addition to concerts, the programme also includes formats from the visual arts or virtual reality as well as a thematically diverse film and literature offering. In the context of sessions, showcases, networking events and award shows, Reeperbahn Festival professionals can think, experience and listen to music in a new way.

I was introduced to your music years ago when I heard Kaskade remix Only at his show. It was the most beautiful song and had put me in this weird and funky mood. But a good mood. Amazing music but unfortunately I hear lots of timing and syncing issues. Piano entries are little bit too early, choir is sometimes not in sync. Maybe for sound technical reasons?
