The Yamaha RX100 was the go-to bike for two-wheeler enthusiasts back in the 80’s and early-90s. Back then, the Yamaha RX100 not only set a benchmark for two-stroke motorcycles but also single-handedly changed people’s perspective towards motorcycling.
The Yamaha RX100 was launched in November 1985 and the company kept manufacturing it until March 1996. The government’s decision to pull the plug on all two-stroke motorcycles ended of the Yamaha RX100's reign in India. But the success story carries on even today
The RX100 was the result of Yamaha going back to the drawing room after the RD350 failed to light up the market. But even Yamaha couldn’t have anticipated the outcome of their radical approach, making the Yamaha RX100 the legend it is today. The best example of this is that enthusiasts are still willing to handover hefty amounts of money in order to own a well-maintained example of the RX100.
The Yamaha RX100 was powered by an air-cooled, 98cc, single-cylinder, two-stroke motor that produced 11PS @ 7500rpm. Power was sent to the rear wheel via a 4-speed gearbox. The company also claimed a 0-60kmph time of 7.5 seconds. Furthermore, the Yamaha RX100 was not only reliable but affordable as well, making it accessible to many. The performance and reliability factor made it a winner in the eyes of enthusiasts. In fact, the Yamaha RX100 became one of India’s best-selling two-stroke machines, until it was replaced with the RX-G.
The part that makes us spring with joy are the rumours of Yamaha reviving the RX100, but with a four-stroke engine instead. However, our excitement levels have dimmed down as there has been no official confirmation from Yamaha as of yet. So, till we get a solid confirmation on its comeback, we can only wait and anticipate that the RX100 will once again revolutionise the Indian two-wheeler commuter segment. TVS Victor now competes with Yamaha RX

Rx100: Pros: 1) initial Pickup is high compared to rx135 since 135 has power box where old airfuel mixture gets stored whereas in 100 direct airfuel mixture enters from carburetor to inlet manifold … 2)100 has six hole silencer where beat is short and 135 has long beat … 3) cdi unit,rr unit,clutch plates,cylinder head,stroke to bore ratio ,oil tank ,oil pump ,chain sprocket,magnet coil,speedometer , choke lever placement varies from 100 to 135… 4) most of 100 bikes were assembled in Japan Cons: 1) 100 has less mileage than 135 2) 100 has only 4 gears whereas 135 has 5 speed variants… 3)old 100s came with 6v battery whereas later 90s 100 came with 12volt battery 4) initial Rx 100 la handle bar cup irukadhu Even 100 had 5sets of G series bores from G1 to G5 and it had both 6v and 12volt models… 100 choke lever was attached to carburetor whereas in 135 it was attached to switch consoles… One main difference is in chassis no one would have told u brother Rx 135 had power box so135 chassis la power box fit aaguradhu chassis la placement irukum adhu 100 la irukadhu 135 pros:(135 came to India as completely knocked down kits (ckd)) 1) best mileage than 100 2) top speed is higher than 100 3)spark plug varies from 100 to 135 4)Rx 135 instrumental console was good looking than 100 consoles Only con was slightly less pickup than rx100 during initials … Rx 135 high speed stability is better than 100 … Enadhan Suzuki better bike Nu namma consider pannalum people say samurai was better compared to rx100 but samurai came with factory ported cylinder block whereas rx100 came with std cylinder block… 100 block ah port panna samurai will loose definitely 😊but anyways 2 stroke love ❤

Main the reason is catalytic converter in 135 because mine uncle 135 there is no catalytic converter that's why it sounds like 100
