Congratulation! Is it being built by China, as a part of the Belt & Road Initiative?

Good project. Also because it's green. But it is misleading to refer to it solely as Rwanda's project when it is co-owned by three countries equally.

80 Megawatt only? That is nothing!! Next time build as big as the DRC's dam or Ethiopia's dam.

@@estajeanette7487 I agree. Specially on a joint venture project between 3 countries one would expect them to build a huge dam coz they can raise the capital between them.

At least have built it, Congolese and their useless arrogance is what is causing your nation to fall even deeper. It's about how big is the dam, it's about the will of people to use the resources they've got, on the DRC part, you have a lot to exploit but you lack the will to do so.

@@mrkigaliiCongolese people need elect a gov that will fight corruption and build the largest and well disciplined army, then I am certain they will be able to stamp out the illegal gangs in the mining sector as well as break link with those international criminals. All they need is the will of the gov to implement this measure.

_‘But but … the dam is in Tanzania boo hoo!’_ All of the water comes directly from Burundi and Rwanda. Even assuming the land is a few feet in Tanzania, it can’t produce any power with no water. Of course those countries’ leaders weren’t petty-minded like some video viewers; they have proper treaties in place on how everything’s shared out, costs & benefits.

This is an exercise project. 80 MW? and even shared among countries? Total joke. Allocate money, enough to build even a 1 GW plant (you can export power for sales), and attract agriculture (there is water). 14 years planning to build an 80MW plant? 14 years ago, 80MW was sufficient but the load increases all time.

Lol . No . You can read about the international financial backer of the tri- partite project. But for DRC it's a chronic case of corruption and poor governance for decades that makes it not even able to use its vast wealth of resource diversified on its entire territories that makes the poor socio- economic indicators.
