You might consider changing those zinc coated screws nuts and washers with stainless. The regular steel will eventually rust and stain your roof, and will also become harder to remove.

Have you ever heard of RVventshade by Next Venture Products? It is for the inside of the RV vent, it blocks a ton of light and let’s you use still use the fan. I bought one a few months ago and I love it! Plus is American made. I just thought I’d share! Great video!

nice upgrade !!! just to add when you put any hardware on outside of the rv always stainless steel they have them at HD in those packages also use lock nut so no need for locktite and lock washers in this application

The word Orange in NJ is spoken as ..."Arnoange" This is the proper east coast way to say "Orange". Gotta Lov It!

Yup I put them on 4 years ago probably 25,000km and still like new helps to keep the rain out while vent still open

Great video Izzy. I myself prefer the Maxxair Maxx 2 covers. They still have all the clearance you need but they also are hinged with clevis pins to easily take off or just pull up to one side to clean under them.Have used them for over a decade and they work great. They also are mounted to the side of the fan housing, not through the roof. So next time you replace look at them...

I have one of these on my motorhome and can attest that it works beautifully. Also had to replace the bolts with longer ones.

We purchased a used MH that didn’t have vent covers. That’s one of the first things we did. No more leaks! One thing though is the one in the bathroom is different than the one in the living room. Make sure you get the correct sizes.

We’ve had the Max Air vent covers on our 5er for 6 years. Still holding up beautifully!!!

Love the vent covers because you can have your vents open when you shower or when it's raining, also you can run them while driving. I was always worried that the factory cover would blow off while driving without the additional full cover over it.

I like the black covers much better, simple change but for some reason it looks better (not that everyone see it😅) but...anyway, thanks Izzy, we always learn from you guys. Oh yea, ps we LOVE Liquify, it works so so good, we will ONLY use this product going forward!!!

We have Maxx Air fan covers. We don't have the Maxx Air fan yet, but it's on the list. We did the installation ourselves.

We actually just installed two on our grand design Fifth wheel. Unfortunately we waited until after a hailstorm an both of our vent lids were damaged. Had we done this earlier we could have saved the cost of new vent lids.

Anything you can do that lowers your profile is a win. I have waxed my covers so that branches or low cable will slide easier. People don't realize that waxing reduces wind drag and improves mileage. Ok, not a lot but every .02 mpg helps. LOL

I always place silicon calk in the seam all the way around so bugs like mosquitoes, roaches and spiders are not able to find their way in my camper through the gap.

Camco covers are similar. If you need more vertical clearance to allow your fan cover to fully open, you can flip the l-brackets over. Either way, don't leave your fan covers open when driving - you will get rain inside.

Good video and good upgrade. Now you can easily remove it to clean inside under the vent cover. Just keep an eye on it. You know how you are about cleaning well I am that way about building things. I probably would have used nylock (self locking) nuts and gotten a washer to spread the load on the inside. That plastic is not that robust.

I have the 2023 Dutch Star and now the vents come with a rain sensor override option if needed in case it’s not raining but the sensor is wet or just moist

Great installation, Izzy, and no holes in the roof and use of Loc-Tite, always a good idea! Wish I could install them on our DS. Actually, I could, but only on one of them. I have been advised that they can't be installed on the vent over the rear bath due to the arch shape of the roof - bummer!

Just replaced our original FanMate and MaxxAir II covers, both in see-through smoke, after 5 years of constant exposure as they were totally degraded and cracked badly. Replaced both with new FanMates in black. I was floored how the cheapest I could find them was more the DOUBLE what I paid in 2019 for the smoke, which was considered a "premium finish!" For more critter (Read: wasp) protection, I put screen behind the louvers. MaxxAir makes screen inserts, but why buy them for $13/each when you have a bunch of window screening left over from another project.

I just bought the Dometic covers for our MH, I was concerned the the brackets would not hold in the plastic sides of vent. 🤛👍🙏😎🦅🇺🇸

I glued window screen to the inside frame to keep bugs from nesting in the vent cover Max air makes screen inserts but their expensive

Excellent demonstration and great looking product. Of course, I looked at my vents and I found that I am happy with the quality and the look. I will be spraying them with the up protectant. Also….I received the Liquified Black tank treatment for free after seeing one of your videos. After seeing your video and a second one, doing a comparison with other tank treatments. On the second video, Liquified won by a lot. By far the better of all the products tested. We are sold on it now. Keep up the great videos and Congratulations to Jason.

I would be concerned about the powered fan opening and hitting the cover and breaking. I dont think you can limit the opening. Either fully open or fully closed.

Good video. Can you tell me what roof coating you used? We live in Arizona. The three year old fiberglass roof on my Winnebago looks BAD. Thank you!

@@EndlessRVing I look forward to the upcoming video. Yes, if you mean the roof radius issues. I have resealed the entire roof radius twice in three years and inspect the darn roof monthly. I just removed the Manus bond sealer on the front cap and redid with Hengs Nuflex. Winnebago’s roof system is the only thing I dislike about my coach. In my opinion a very poor design.

Our vent was an option we purchased.
