Caution - Best Buy in Wilkes Barre PA has these TV's and the DISPLAY unit does have the 12v connector. BUT the TVs for sale in the closed boxes DO NOT have the 12V DC connector. They only have the 120 V AC wire. I checked and the model numbers were IDENTICAL. Genes' tip is still a very good one, just be careful to inspect the individual TV you're buying !

Replaced my AC TVs with Samsung flat screens. Samsung TV's had a 14 volt wall warts. Just made a cable to run them from 12V outlets. No need for a power converter. A lot more efficient, no AC needed, a lot cheaper, and got better TVs. IMPORTANT! - Just remember to put a switch on the 12 volt feed cable you make for it as the newer TVs are always in standby so they will drain the battery even when off unless you cut the 12V power to them. You could also just unplug it.

They have barrel jack to cigarette lighters for these on ebay. I have an LG 24" computer monitor with the same 12v listed on the power brick and barrel connector. Not sure yet if it's 12vdc or 12ac yet until I test with a multimeter. I'm having a heck of a time shopping for a 12v RV tv with high NITS for outdoor use. None of these TVs rarely list their NITS, and you need 1000 or so for bright sunlight use.

Insignia TV's as well as most others are all direct 120V corded now. This is old information as manufacturers are not making them 12V any longer unless you buy a specific smaller TV. We spent hours looking and with TV people that have been doing it for two decades.

We just swapped out the six year old 120 volt AC TV (a Jensen) that came with our trailer to a 12 volt DC TV (also a Jensen) and for the life of me, it seems like the new 12 volter takes the on board battery power (looking at my multi meter set to volts) to more than the old TV did when operated off our inverter. How can that be? I thought the LED TV would draw less power - and that's the ONLY reason we bought it. Grrrr.

It looks like a lot of these DC TVs are now 19 volts instead of 12 volts. You can still use a 19 volt TV but you'll need a step up transformer to go from +12V DC to +19V DC. Here's an example of one: www.amazon.com/Aweking-Waterproof-Converter-Regulator-Transformer/dp/B06X6M6SN8

I will think about a video of making the 12volt plug, it's a good idea. You know life is spinning really fast for everyone these days. I've wanted to make more videos but it seems I can't even get out of my our way these days. I'm also working on getting TRUMP elected, going to TRUMP rally's and monitoring the cheating, by working on the vote counting and that has taken more time than I wished. Check the comment below, it may help you. Just remember what the center contact on the cig plug is the hot wire and the TV plug, the hidden center of that is the hot wire. Gene Smith7 months ago+Jim Davis Ok, first, make sure its a 12 volt TV. There are some 19 volt Tv's. It's not a 110 volt plug because the plug at the TV is 12 volt even after cutting the control box off at the other end. Yes there is polarity on the 12v. Here's the clue, the shielding or outer part of anything is usually the ground (neutral in this case. After you cut the plug for the 12v TV side, pull the plug out, use a meter and find which wire is the outer shield on the plug (neutral or ground) then mark it . Now, the center part of that plug is the Hot.The cigar lighter center is the hot , the outer part of the cigar plug is neutral. Connect the ground (neutrals) together, then connect the hot wires (center parts) then use electrical crimps and tape them up and that's it! Add a fuse if your not certain! Good Luck! Read more

There is no neutral. It is DC voltage. As such, it is just positive and negative. If you get it backwards, just reverse it and you're good to go.

For anyone confused about this, these TVs plug into a normal 110 volt AC home style outlet, and then there is a power supply on the cord (a boxy piece) and then after the power supply, it is 12 VDC. So he is just cutting the wire between the TV and the power supply. Then you just have positive and negative wires (probably red and black). He spliced these wires into a car cigarette lighter style 12 volt plug.

Watch my videos and you'll see. Look at the plug going into the TV. The center of the plug is the hot wire and the outer metal is the ground. Use your multimeter. Make sure it's written on the tv case that it is 12 volts. Most of the new ones are either 120 volts or 19 volts. It's getting harder to find 12 volt TV's. I'm not a professional at this, so this is only advice from a fellow RVer. Both of my TV's have been running on the RV batteries for some time now and no problems.

+djnemesis82pluss1877 No, the voltages are not that critical. All electrical circuits are within the tolerances. Actually the Tv and most 12 volt units will run from 10v to 14 volts easily. The lower voltages are much more dangerous due to brown outs. Starving circuits for juice will burn them out fairly quickly! Have fun, thanks for watching and stay safe!

If your TV is 12 volt it will work. You have to take out the 110 volt AC converter in the power cord and get rid of it. Most 12 volt sockets in a vehicle are on a 20 amp fuse/breaker. It will supply 5 amps with no problem.

see an electronics guy because the tv is such a low amp draw, a buck up electronics circuit could do the job although it may cost you more than you want to spend. A buck up moves the voltage up to 19volts from 12volts. The best part is that it's all dc to dc.

True. However, these are not 110vac tv's. They are 12v dc tv's. They plug into a 110v outlet in your home. There is a box that converts it to 12v dc before going into your tv. The usually big bulky black box. It'll show ac input and dc output. Same thing with my 4k computer monitors I'm looking at right now. The cord plugs into a 110v outlet - 110vac/14vdc converter - 14vdc plug into the back of the monitor. They are becoming more common to find.
