As Paul said - "I have learned the secret of being content, in any and every situation" (Philippians 4:12-13) Well done. We lived in our fifth wheel for several years and just recently "upgraded" to an older single wide with 750 sf on a small lot and it feels like a mansion. Prayers and blessings to all of you!

Our family enjoys renting a house (Air BnB or something like that) that is large enough for everyone when the occasion calls for it. Everyone feels more comfortable and the focus is on relationships rather than a lot of work on one family hosting.

There's wisdom in resisting the urge to 'improve' when things are fine as they are. Or as they say, if it ain't broke, dont't fix it. That's some beautiful countryside you're walking through, Bill. 🌲🌳🌳🌱

One more idea. If you have company at Christmas, you could heat the sunroom with a wood stove. You can heat a tent, so you could sure heat that room. I am thinking more if you wanted to have people in for a meal. Heat it up the day before and keep it warm for the duration of their visit.

I think it was a 10X40 trailer on a rented lot that my parents started out in. Mom said it had two small bedrooms and not enough room for a kitchen table. They had someone build a bar for them to sit at while eating. She has told time and time again dad was desperate to leave. They found a brand new two-story house. The bank cut them a loan, nobody thought to get a home inspector, and they move in. Mom had bad feelings the whole time. The wound up fixing thing after thing after thing. Then work got scarce and the house was sold a whopping four days before the bank was to repo it. They bought another trailer and rented a lot again. I did most of my earlier growing up while in that two bedroom, two bath trailer. We have lived in like three other areas since then. Finally, we settle into the 28X78 fixer-upper doublewide that we parked on some land. The most marvelous thing is last year, mom and dad found themselves without some form of house payment last year for the first time ever.

I understand totally....our story is similiar to yours though we're in our 70's. We found Jesus in our 20's, began to Pastor in churches in our 30's, but had to quit with my health issues 26 years later. In his late 50's, my husband struggled to find work & what he did find was ruining his health. Praying, the Lord led us to sell our home, buy a used little trailer & eventually work at a trailer park as groundskeeper. The owners love Pastor Bob & he has total freedom to minister to folks there including much ministry to their family. We eventually prchased an old 36 ft fifth wheel that Bob fixed up & the Lord Jesus led us to buy a lot in a camping club nearby. We're paying off indebtedness & Bob is working part time now. Our Son-in-love was raised by millionaires so is amazed by our contentedness. God is soooo good! "Godliness with contentment is great gain!" Love you guys! Bob & Diane

Bill I too a peek at Pinterest and I found a Mobile Trailer where they build an over the back an added place for bigger families! I think they were made in the 60’s I thought of you folks after the last video! They were cool just to see how they were made. Almost like the young people and doing with taking the roof off the bus and adding more head space so it actually looks like a real RV. Some are made very nice! It’s hard for some folks to comprehend you love what you live in and your debit free!

Another advantage to living tiny, which has probably already been mentioned, is that there is so much less work, I mean who wants to be moving lawns and pulling weeds and cleaning 2 story homes after we've done it our whole lives. There is more to life than maintenance of things and property.

I really enjoyed the walk down that road. Reminds me of where I used to live. I have gone through a couple of downsizings on the road to a smaller life and the best part is no debt which means having money for what's really important. As for additions to your house, when you compare the cost of a hotel a few times a year to the cost of an addition, well common no debt sense says put your money in the bank not in a construction project.

Sorry I ever posted that pic on your FB page! I didn't realize it was going to set off such a storm of controversy! I assure you I was not making any statement implying that you were dissatisfied with your current living situation, nor that I thought there was a need to expand or improve your home in any way. I think your tiny home is fab, and your videos documenting your lifestyle have been inspiring. I happen to see that pic on another site and thought it was a unique way to update an RV home. And as I stated on the post, that if you and Elizabeth ever did want to expand your space (not that you should or needed to), here was a cute idea. There was nothing else implied. Sorry if I offended you, or was the impetus for you to feel you needed to post 2 videos explaining and defending your choice to live as tiny as you please. That was not at all my intent.

No worries. There was no offense! That was actually a well done trailer expansion. I did these videos because over the years we have had HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of suggestions to add an addition, and I just wanted to give our thoughts about that in a video instead of typing out a response over and over again. Be blessed. 😀👍.

It's nice that people want to help. I'm very happy that you've found a way of living that suits you, and that you enjoy. You're very lucky, many people are miserable in their lives, and wishing for something different. Linda and I are happy where we are, for now. When I retire, we're going to move somewhere else to avoid high taxes and big city problems. But for now, it suits us, as I have a job I really love, that is going to give us the resources to do what we want later. If you ever do decide to give a long written response to some comments, what I do is to type it up as a text file, then just copy and paste. I write it as a Word Pad file, so if something goes wrong in the multiple-pasting process, I can go back and re-copy it and keep going. It saves a lot of time for me that way. Linda and I send our best to you and Elizabeth. Oh, and congratulations on reaching 60,000 subscribers!

I don’t understand the thrill of entertaining in your home. We are seniors and having people stay overnight and preparing meals for them is very stressful and tiring. Elizabeth does not need that. I totally agree with you. If someone comes to visit take them out to eat. If family comes overnight get them a hotel, maybe one that serves breakfast. ( You could probably pay for breakfast and eat with them) Take them out to eat. Expensive, but it doesn’t happen that often. Just plan it in your budget. Continue to go to your son’s house for Christmas. Another idea in the summer is buy picnic food and take it to a park.

I sincerely wish I could convince my husband to move to small or tiny house! We have a house that needs much work and my husband is 75 and I am 70. It is so hard to find anyone that does a good job on repairs. Everyone thinks they are great builders. We put a roof on several years ago and although he was supposed to be the best we have had problems for years. Depressing. Stay small, enjoy your home, ignore people who want to change you. Everything is a trade off. Spending a ton of money for family to stay 2 or 3 times a year makes no sense - or cents! There's a reason hotels get built. When my mom was alive, she downsized into a very cute "manufactured home" (she would get mad if you said mobile home!) A little place with hardly any upkeep rather than her big home with all that maintenance was perfect for her, she loved it. Hubby and I stayed in hotels when we went to visit. Not only did she not have the room, but it was easier on her, not having to worry about getting a guest room clean or feeling as if she was obliged to get us breakfast, etc. And hubby and I were (and are) too old and creaky to sleep on the floor in sleeping bags!! There are no perfect solutions, do what makes the most sense for the way you live the majority of the time.

I think the tiny home life is going to be a big part of the future for young people ..and old people too. Instead of getting caught up in the 30 year mortgage cycle. Nothing wrong w that if u want it but if I were younger I would def get a tiny home on wheels and we would travel and work in different places. I love the way tiny homes look too. So unique. I wish we had a similar situation here but tiny homes just don't gather tax revenue like bigger homes do so I doubt that tiny home parks are going to start dotting the countryside. We just have to keep the pressure up on elected officials. Keep doin' you Bill & Elizabeth! We'll keep watching!

We just went to Sight and Sound in Lancaster a few months ago. Did you see the video? kzread.info/dash/bejne/i3erurOxmc_Noaw.html We have not been on a cruise. But we have earned several Trips with Thrive Life to all inclusive resorts. Two years ago we went to Aruba, last year we went to Panama, and this coming January we're going to the Bahamas. Of course, we'll take you along!

I had to pass on this info., even though it is not about this video specifically. I know that you two have talked about checking out solar for back up emergency power. Please check out altestore.com. They have all sorts of stuff for solar energy at the best prices that I have ever seen! They even have wind power stuff. They also have kits for RV's. I found this website through some KZreadrs who are building an off grid container home in Texas. By the way, I love your channel. You two keep doing what you are doing and stay true to yourselves. God bless you both.

It seems it doesn't make sense to change your lifestyle for visits a few days a year. As said there are options. Have a great weekend!

A tent isn’t feasible in the northeast although we’ve been known to hang out in ice shacks on the frozen lakes with a little heat.
