RV Master Bedroom To Kids' Room Conversion (Grand Design 397TH)
We converted the master bedroom in our Grand Design 397 toy hauler RV into a bedroom for our two kids. Complete with a modified IKEA bunk bed installed in the bedroom slide. Before we attempted this conversion, we scoured the internet looking for a conversion with an east/west bedroom layout, but all we could find was a north/south orientation, where the kids' beds were put in the nose of the 5th wheel. We couldn't find anything where the beds were put in the slide, so we decided to document our process and share it with you.

What was your slide out dimensions? Have any other video of constructing the bunk beds. U said I had to make them smaller but u didn’t say how

Not sure dimensions, but likely less than 66”. So if you have teens, I don’t think this would work

You could probably flip the idea. Doing beds where the closet is and turning the slide out into a closet or even a couple chairs for chilling
Do you have exact measurements and where you cut for everything? We have this exact trailer and are wanting to do this
What flip out shoe bin is on the wall? I've been looking for one just like that.

It’s from Ikea. It does come in very handy! You can even store clothes in there if you roll them up.

How does the bunk move with the slide for travel?

We put thick felt under the bunk legs, so it slides easily on the vinyl floor. And most of the weight is in the back where the bunk is screwed into the floor of the slide.

Did you use a full size washer and dryer? How do you know which one to get ?

@@tiffanyteague4332 I think it's slightly smaller than a standard washer and dryer. We got the Splendide brand, which a ton of RVers use.
