Sharon got all of the repair genes. She has literally saved us thousands of dollars by taking care of some minor repairs.

We just recently had this occur on our last outing in July, 2021. By coincidence, I just happened to come upon your video. I tried your solution, and low and behold, it seemed to have solved the problem. Thanks for making the video. We have watched a few of your videos since, and I saw the one where you were in Fairfield. That's one of our favorites, and is only about 50 miles from our house. Thanks again and safe travels.

Thank y’all so much for your tips!!! We experienced the same problem today - after a night of sub-freezing temperatures no less. I’m sure you understand the worries that such issues invoke in RV newbies. Anyway, we tried your approach and thought we got lucky at first because the water stopped leaking from the fresh water tank inlet. Unfortunately our happiness was short lived: 50 min later the dripping resumed 🙁 We’ll call Forest River tomorrow for advice on how to remedy our issue. Let’s see if our repair deserves a KZread video! You rock though!

@@TwoTiredTeachers after some further trials and research I decided to order a new $30 head for our pump from Amazon and replace it myself. Haven’t installed it yet, but I feel even with 2 left hands I may be able to complete this relatively simple repair. Wish me luck! 😉

We just had the same thing happen and think we fixed our problem the same way (so far, so good). I'm so glad we didnt have our overflow/vent drain plugged as if we were headed to a nearby boondocking location! Good vid and info shared!

I had the same problem until I watched your video lol I had a tone of air in my lines when I turned the pump on but after all the air was gone I let it run for 10 min. And then turned on city water so far so good!! Thanks for sharing

Also found fresh water tank overfilling. Turned off city water and used pump overnight and morning. Did a little homework on the subject matter, looked at my water pump and noticed it already had a cutt off valve leading to fresh water tank, so I turned it off and back on city water line. When I boondock I ll have to open cutt off valve to use freshwater tank.

I also have recently had the same issue. What I found was there is a built in check valve inside the water pump that failed from either debris or high pressure from a campground. If the check valve fails water will back feed thru the pump and fill the potable tank.

YAY Thank you so much, quite helpful!!! But I have a regulator on the for city water it's only at 40 PSI and this is still happening. 5th wheel says it is good for up 100 PSI. This is second time in a month that it's happened any thoughts on that?

Good video. I have a Minnie. I only turn on my water pump when I am using the water and was told to be sure not to turn on the pump when I am hooked up to city water, which I have forgotten a few times. My rig is a 2013 and so far no problems with the water tank. You didn't mention filling up and emptying the water tank after sanitizing it, but I always do a full fill and dump after sanitizing to make sure I rinse all the bleach out. I also use a filter on the water hose and then again filter my drinking water from the kitchen sink by putting it in a Zero pitcher. My dog gets the filtered water also, of course. Happy travels. Hope to meet you down the road. I will be traveling through Florida and south Georgia this winter.

We ordinarily don't use the water pump while hooked up to city water, but we had to get the air out of the lines. We, too, use filters outside and on the faucet. We don't completely fill and empty the tank after sanitizing. We do run water through all the lines until we no longer smell bleach. Love hearing that you also have a Minnie. We love ours. Maybe we will meet. We always enjoy meeting subscribers.

Thanks! My Class C Jayco was leaking water. This happened before, at the beach, when I was connected to city water that was too high of pressure. Pressure is okay at current location but noticed something leaking. Looks like the overflow valve. Hopefully this works!

I recall watching this video when it was new. Now YT has again pushed it to me. Anyhow, one thing I do not do, is connect to city water and leave it pressurized. I use city water to fill the tank, and the pump to pressurize with. This way, there is no chance of a leak flooding you, or a line blowing or something like that. If the pump is running and the faucets are all closed, you either have a leak or are out of water, in both cases you need to investigate. The one time I did hook up city water was where I was staying for 4 days, and I made sure it was turned off at night and anytime I left the Motor home. The MH filled the tank thru the city water connection with a selector valve, no external filler port. My current travel trailer has both a city water connector and a filler port.

Hi. Good day! Would like to ask any recommendation or suggestions on how to fix our little problem on our camper. Its a 2016 gulf stream ameri-lite 198bh. 1. We used it two weeks ago for a dispersed camping. Filled our fresh water tank. When we arrived at the campground, we turned on the water pump, we’ve noticed that waterpump has a different noise. Like not the usual sound of the waterpump, then the water outflow is not as strong as it was. And noticed a leak while its pumping water. Question is, is the water pump defective? Any easy fix recommendation? Or should we change the water pump? So since water pump is giving us a problem, we booked a campground that has a full hook up, and that seemed to solve our problem that weekend. 2. Last weekend we hooked it up on a full hook up campground, since we haven’t figure out what’s wrong with our water pump. First night was really smooth running, till our 2nd night, we noticed that our fresh water tank was over filled and leaking already, we don’t know why, we didn’t fill up our fresh water tank, we are just connected to city water, and we haven’t turned ON our water pump. Any knowledge on what to do with this? Any help,comment,suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank in advance.

I am by no means an expert, but a suggestion or two... There is a filter on the pump that worked lose on ours once and leaked. I tightened it and had no issues for 2 years. If you have left the pump on for a couple of days and it is still not pressurizing the lines the pump may need to be replaced. I just replaced ours last week for the same reasons. It took a couple of days to pressurize the lines. When it did it was VERY loud, but we used it for the MONTH we were gone. As soon as we got home I replaced it. None of that explains why the rug/floor was wet. A much bigger issue. Turning on a faucet when the pump is off shouldn't let air into the lines. The faucet is higher than the tank and the water is still in the spout, with a working check valve. Instead of replacing the pump, you could install an external check valve after the pump.

We didn't replace the water pump. What we did was watch a video about air in the lines. We took that KZreadr's advice, and the problem was solved.

Good video we just went full time and our switch will not let City water work it fills the tank trying to figure this out

Thanks for watching, by using water from the fresh water tank to get air out of the lines (using the water pump), the pressure from the water closes the valve that needs to be closed, at least it has for us. Hope it works for you!
