RV Accident Wrecked Our Spring Break w/ @JonLMcNair

Spring Break didn’t quite start as expected. Thankfully no one was injured in the accident we had on I65 Southbound which landed us right back where we started.

I have been subscribed for a month now. I appreciate your humor and all you show us. I’m praying for the blessing of God providing a RV for me one day. Until then I intend to start camping and enjoying life. Relaxing so I can stop chopping my husbands head off as well. 😂 we live in NC, surrounded by water but don’t have a boat and live to fish.

If you are a lover of the outdoors definitely get out there and start living. The best low cost ways to start getting into the lifestyle is visit some RV shows and just walk through a lot of different styles of RVs to help you “fine tune” your dream. When you find the right one that ticks mostly all your boxes, you’ll know that what God has for you will be for you! ☺️ I really appreciate the good vibes and thank you so much for the support.

I see a lot of great things happening here. All people involved are safe and uninjured. You're fully insured. You've paid off your camper. You have a lot big enough to store it at home. You got some refunds for your travel plans. You captured some great footage for content. You created the future content of "repair or replace oh what will they do ?🍿" Most importantly everyone who watches will be more disciplined to always turn off the propane when traveling. It's not something I've seen stressed enough in all of the RV Van Life videos I've watched.

The issue is many RV's HAVE to leave the propane on to keep the refrigerator cooling. Most have eliminated the old 12V cooling option- which frankly was a poor performer in most cases anyway.

I’m glad everyone was ok. It’s always in the back of my mind that someone is going to hit my trailer in the rear while towing. It could ruin a trip you have done a lot of planning for and made a lot of reservations. Many people get frustrated following me and tailgate me because I do tend to be slower than traffic

Glad to see you all are OK physically. Good for Daniel to get the hit-and-run driver. Looks like it might be time for a new RV. fifth wheel? Great job keeping a sense of humor about it all and I did smile a few times during the video. And I subscribed. Make sure to film all the decision-making process on after the insurance adjuster ascertains the dollar amount since it’s paid off, it will be interesting to see that process of whether you buy a new one, visiting RVs, or shows to decide, and what to do with the old one. I have to admit I am very surprised the amount of damage on the RV versus the amount of damage to that truck. I would’ve thought the opposite. Glad you all are OK.

First time watching you…living through not quite my greatest fear when we start towing this April. The greatest is a fire. That truck sure took a beating! We’re not going to travel with the propane on, if the fridge is cold enough it would be like a cooler, just leave the door closed as one would o during a power outage (I had to mentally go through that line of thinking when we bought our ‘new to us’ 2016 Outdoors RV. The thought of fire paralyzes me so I needed to do the mental gymnastics.) Love the note to be like a dog…that’s so true! That and laughing instead of crying. And your final note about God helping us through challenges-💞. Gotta go subscribe now, love your attitude.

How unfortunate but glad everyone was okay. Dejavu! We had a similar incident happen to us on our way up to Tahoe on US 50. A merging dump truck took out our rear awning arm with its mirror very much like what happened to your awning. I was surprised the mirror didn't break but it was mangled. We couldn't get to the side of the freeway due to construction barriers closing off the far right lane and the shoulder so we took the next exit, Bradshaw Rd. pulled into a parking lot and I had to get up on the roof of the 5th wheel and drill holes in the awning tube to secure the arm to the tube with wire ties to keep it from falling off the trailer. My wife was on the phone calling CHP to get a report taken but she was told if no one was hurt or the vehicles weren't causing a traffic hazard they would not respond. The dump truck driver didn't speak any English and I don't speak Hindi or Punjabi and he refused to show me his driver's license. I took the trucking company information off of the door of the truck (Company name and DOT #) and contacted our insurance company to let them deal with it. Come to find out, the truck driver does not hold a valid Class A license and the company does not have insurance. Their business license had been revoked two years ago by the City of Elk Grove (where the company was based) Our insurance (AAA) took care of the damages ($5657.86) and the claims adjuster told us they would go after the owner of the trucking co. Luckily, we were able to continue to our destination and had a fairly decent weekend in Tahoe less using our rear awning. We are so sorry you didn't get to have the weekend you guys planned. Please keep us informed of what your insurance company says and does with your rig. You guys handled that situation like champs! Safe travels McNair Family.

How does Jon stay so calm through it all - and even when dealing with the aftermath and trying to put the trailer away. My temper could have never handled any part of it. Thank goodness everyone was safe and uninjured. Hope to see your future videos with a reapaired or new trailer.

I am so sorry for you guys. I'm thrilled that nobody was injured. Your vacation, along with the other folks, got ruined by a hit & run driver. Hopefully they are able to track him down. The damage to your RV looked very costly & hopefully the hit & run driver gets caught & has insurance. It's sad that things like this have to happen. Whatever becomes of it try & make the best out of it. Your husband was very polite to both the other drivers & the police. That's an excellent education for the young ones who are watching & learning as they are in on this too. They pay attention to you parents & as they grow older fall back on these memories when it's their turn to handle a stressful situation.

That place is such a fun destination in the middle of my old hometown. We’ve been once before. It’s has become our new vacation spot when we are visiting my family. I really enjoy cooking with gas so maybe we’ll find one and put better safety measures in place when traveling. We’ve received some great suggestions in the comments to help with that. Thanks for checking out the video and the support. 🙏🏾👍🏾

Glad y'all are ok. I'm curious as to what insurance will say to the trailer. I would definitely have the tow vehicle inspected as well. Have the frames checked on both the tow vehicle and trailer. The structural integrity of that trailer may be compromised also.

Thank God no injuries and for Daniel’s fast action with the Phone, I went from a 17’ travel trailer to a 30’ 5th wheel I’ve had a few times where ,when I’m trying to get back in right lane especially after changing lane for on-ramp entrance, people will speed up and try to get ahead instead of letting me change lane and then passing on the left, I generally stay in right lane to avoid being sandwiched, also have you considered a 12 v refrigerator to avoid having to leave gas on while driving? I’m definitely getting a dash cam for my next rig 🙏🏽it’s due to come off assembly line the new one is 33’ although I’m not very apprehensive, thank you for sharing , it reminds me that situations can come at any time any direction stay safe and get Daniel any phone he wants 😂
