RV 101® - RV How-To Reseal & Replace RV Windows

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

RV DIY with Mark Polk: A common repair made on RVs is resealing or replacing a window. In most cases the owner takes the RV to a service facility to have the repairs done. Today I’m going to demonstrate how the do-it-yourselfer can reseal and replace RV windows using a new Seal-tite™ Foamcore Window Kit.
The Seal-Tite™ Window Foamcore Kit is designed to provide you with everything you need to repair a leaking RV window or to reseal a RV window! It contains enough Foamcore in the kit to reseal up to 6-8 windows, depending on size. It requires no trimming, it will not sag or ooze, and it has excellent temperature resistance in warm and cold climates. The round shape of the Seal-Tite Foamcore allows precise placement around the window radiuses and it will not gap, fall off, or roll.

I've been fretting over the expense of taking it to an RV Dealer to do this and just knew I could do this. Thank you Mark Polk!!!! I not only think I can accomplish this, I know I can!

Great demonstration. I have several windows to reseal in our motorhome, more to reseal in our travel trailer, and one to replace in the travel trailer. This tutorial has made the job look really do-able. Thanks!

Best to do ALL repairs on your RV yourself. I dropped my travel trailer at an RV repair service and after 7 weeks I called asking how it was going and they said they were waiting on insurance to start the repairs! All they had to do was order and replace a window and the trailer mount light switch! For 7 weeks it has sat on their lot with nothing being done. I could have done the repairs myself quickly of and efficiently, but the trailer is still under warranty. I am just grateful it is in the winter months!

This looks like and interesting fix! Thanks for the info. Quick question, I have a double pane window that looks like the seal between the panes is warped and leaking with water condensation inside. Do you have a video or a suggestion for that type of repair? Thanks for shsring!

I just did this repair but used butyl sealant and Dynaflex 230 clear sealant. All went well until it rained overnight. I woke up to find the Dynaflex 230 turned into a gooey mess. It had not cured or even skinned over after applying it. I contacted DAP this morning to ask about this issue. They told me two things, it will take 24 hours for the product to cure otherwise this can happen. The second is that Dynaflex 230 is not recommended for use on vehicles due to repeated vibration. He actually recommended a 3m product though no name was given for applications like vehicles where it will be subjected to vibrations. Fortunately the butyl sealant protected the window from leaking.

Thanks Mark. Do you have a video on how to replace the glass or window assembly? I have 2 broken panes in a side window. Trailer is an 06, so seals are weathered. I'd like to replace the entire assembly with new frame and tinted glass, on both side of the trailer. Do you know of a connection to a manufacturer? The salvage yards don't have any stock of these. I would love to see you do a video of the process- swap out, although it would be similar to this process. Thanks.

Looks good so I thought I would grab the Seal-Tite™ Window Foamcore Kit. 99.99 on line from the manufacturer plus 29.99 tax. So far so good. shipping 49.99 for ground and up to 200+ for overnight. What a joke. What does this weigh, 300 lbs??

Good demo on what to do. The link in your video says the product is no longer available. I did see it is associated with Dicor a brand I trust.

Quick question- did you use the white/clear sealant on the bottom of the windows as well? I heard you need to allow for drainage but that makes me nervous lol, can someone please confirm? Thanks!

Now i see why trailers have so much water damage on the frames of the windows. If is was a house you would also put a sealant layer around the frame and then put the window in.

This product is out of stock. And just to say, someone commented that is was extremely expensive. I don't feel 101.46 is too expensive for a product that will enable me to reseal my windows myself and not have to depend on an expensive dealer cost.

Good video, extremely overpriced product. I'll go another route so I can afford lunch when I'm done.
