For a while, it seemed like the emperor would select him and even went as far as banning all her kids from possibly ascending the throne so it seems like that rule didn't exist in this story.

@@jieamy7753那時候清朝還沒真正入關 前面的皇帝皇后都是後來皇帝追封的 嚴格說起來只有康熙開始才是真正屬於紫禁城中的皇族 所以在那之前他們才會與所謂的「外族」聯姻 當然前人為了延續家族權利 後續的聯姻也是正常的

皇后生产时叫的不是周迅的声音

Technically he wasn’t birthed by the empress so he’s not. Only the children of the empress are legitimate children

You are correct that it is a pity. If I remember correctly I think even the empress Dowager said so herself that it was a shame Youngqi wasn't a legitimate Heir because he was raised so well
