It was great to hear Larry Phillips mentioned. I rarely missed a race at the Springfield, MO Fairgrounds Speedway during the 70s. Rusty, Mark Martin, Ken Schrader among others. Dick Trickle would come in once or twice a year. Great memories.

Always amazed me that fans thought Rusty and Dale disliked each other and Gordon and Dale hated each other too. I think most of the time they were all friends but on the track it was time to do the job and friends didn't cone first

Early to late-‘90’s, Rusty and Dale’s rivalry was ALWAYS “the show.” It was by far, the fiercest battle on the track, and consistently the best racing in the sport. I really miss those days…

Senior was no more a dirty driver than most of the other drivers were, and are today. He was very aggressive on short tracks because that was how short tracks were raced back in the day. He never would get into a driver on a super speedway or even a mile and a half track. But there is no way you win 7 championships driving against the talent he did by being a dirty driver, it was pure talent that made him successful.

I’m not a huge NASCAR fan but I do watch and used to watch more. Regardless, whenever I see claims like this I go look. 94-00 it was reasonably even between Dale and Jeff. There’s no way to interpret the results as either kicking the other’s ass. Sorry.
