Hello my dear friends. I am happy to share a new work from my workshop with you. This time our story is about an antique blacksmith hammer, a very beautiful hand tool. As you know, I love the marks of time on antique objects, especially on metal. For this restoration project, I didn't do a high finishing that would spoil the antique look. I even did some work to strengthen this old and craft look. I tempered it in the blacksmith forge and the color turned out great, you will like !! I chose hornbeam wood for the handle. I made a simple, solid and stylish design for my big hands. This form fit very well in the hand. I have done very precise work for both metal and wooden parts. As usual, I decided on the shape of the result during the work and It turned out to be a very nice geometry in the end. I finally listened to the timbre it made on the anvil. I will use this beautiful antique hammer in my nearest blacksmithing project. I am very happy to work and present something to you, I hope you will share this pleasure with me while watching. As always, your craftsmanship is amazing. But, what caught my eye, this video was your attention to videography. A person in the background as the hammer soaked, who wasn't you. The change of hands and what's being washed. The same person, from before leaving the cherries as a gift. The cherries there for you to snack on as you work. All this on top of the usual top notch recordings of your amazing work. You took your videos to another level with this one.

A wonderful old piece that definitely deserves the restoration. Because the steel composition of back then is of higher quality than today's and therefore worth preserved. I have a hammer much like this. The handle is much longer. I never had any idea what the specific purpose of the hammer was other than ir was from the railroad industry. Years later, I saw a scene from a movie in which railroad workers were using the long handled hammer to strike rails. The different sounds resonating from the strike apparently indicated when there was a crack in the rail.

Hello once again my friend, I am very happy to see another beautiful restoration video. The detailed craftsmanship in this one was very good indeed. The bluing really gives the hammer a great restored finish, making the pitting much more pleasing to the eye, and it still looks like an antique. Amazing work! Was it possible to make out the inscription on the top of the hammer; if so, what did it say? I could make out "1917" I think. The nature in your video was also very appreciated; as was the Joyball at 9:12. I very much enjoyed the part with the fresh cherries. It was a very artistic transition with the faucet that adds a lot of value to the video. Keep up the great work, and never lose faith in the strength and quality of these videos, they are breath takingly beautiful. I try my best to share each video with all of my friends, and everybody really loves each and every one of them. Very nice work O.H.. What kind of wood was that, that you used to make to make the wedge? When u were sorting through the wood scraps, there was a square pc of wood that sounded like metal when you dropped it.. It sounded very hard.. Do you know what kind of wood that was? Gary Hi !! Great to see you. I think kind of a mahogany and the end grain exactly looks like an animal skin :) The square one should be a regular mahogany. Stay safe my dear friend and thank you ✌🏻⚙️⚒️
