And to think people get rid of them simply because they are old! That paint job! Actually the whole restoration, masterfully done! Congratulations! Thank you!

this is all speculation, but i think it's more economical to just recycle all the parts and buy a new bike. the only reason someone would or should do this is for sentimentality
In my retirement community, I fix up old adult trikes and give them away. We have a group that rides together for fun & exercise. I don't do nearly the work on them that you do, but I can sure appreciate what hard work goes into it. Thanks.
man, I hate videos like this - after watching it I literally started looking up compressors and powder guns lmao awesome work on the bike and video, cheers!
That last shot should have been outside in the sun ! :D very nice work !
Very nice restore you did with this bike. Hope you have more restores coming up. Stay safe & healthy. Take care.
I always wanted to convert my 8-speed hub to a derailleur system. I was researching for months if this kind of derailleur hanger even exists. The guys in my local Bike shops told me that there is no way to do that but apparently there is! After I saw your video and the derailleur hanger you used, I bought one and I'm finally going to convert my bike, so thank you so much! Greetings from Germany!

The paint was just beautiful. I took a very similar frameset from the 70's, powder coated it gloss metallic black, and built it up with more modern components. Still my favorite bike of the many I've owned.
sorry 0:42 before was not bad.. except tire.. 8:16 lovely original blue paint, decal has gone TT relax restoration plz. thank you

I admire all the work that you put to restore this bike. great work (and video editing)
Fascinated watching you take apart & put back together !
I want those pink grips so bad. Awesome restoration
wooow. stunning and professional, many, many congrats! you and Old Shovel are one of the very best out there!
You do a real restoration, unlike most others (including me) that restore it with modern bike parts, kudos sir!!
I like these videos a lot, especially because you're taking in beat up and discarded bikes. Also your music sounds really good and reminds me of Yo La Tengo!
That is one beautiful bike! Well done!
Great restoration! One comment I’d make is that I think one of the cotter pins was in the wrong way around which is why the crank arms weren’t 180 degrees. Easy mistake to make as I’ve worked on a lot of cottered bikes. Love the cotter press, really want one but can’t justify it right now.
You should do more old school bikes like this! Awesome video keep it up!
What a beautiful restoration. I am so tired of Rust-er-ations. This bike is better than new. Awesome job and a pleasure to watch

@@BuildaBetterBike I assume its a functional "restoration" rather than going all out with a full restoration. I've seen a bike like that and it didn't last long sadly due to lack of metal protection.
Hay Andrew Loving the new channel. I really liked youre idea of sand blasting through the stencil, shame id didnt work out. Could you try getting some metal acid etching liquid or alternatively try electro etching. I think you can do it cheaply with a salt water Q-tip a 9v batter and some alligator clips.
Wow, what an effort! Love the glitter of the paintjob and the overall dedication you have put in this Build!
Your work speak to the world ❤️

I love those old bottom brackets and hubs. So simple. Awesome!
I don’t think it’s possible to put cranks on without spinning them immediately after lol. It’s like as soon as you seen a turbo impeller you gotta spin it😬👍

Old cranks with cotter pins last forever the inside bottom brackets, would hand place with ball bearing and grease no sealed brackets. Good idea to keep original cotterpins remakes are made of nylon, metal the wear down easy making the crank come loose .
Amazing job! What a crazy cotter pin that was. Paint amazing. Wow. 👌👌👌

aaaww such a beautiful color on the frame! That's exactly I would be looking for on my bike *.*
great works! well done
Awesome video and an incredible job. If the bike had been mine, I would have kept the original paint job, so 70's. I grew up in the 70's, so I miss those days, not disco, but just about everything else. Great bike, fantastic job.
Amazing work. Very inspirational.

Excelente trabajo, me encanto el video
FANTASTIC!
Great video. Two things to mention: 1. Never thought that Positron cables are still produced/sold (it's such an old technology), so at the beginning of the video i was shocked when you cut the old cables 2. The new grips are mounted a bit incorrectly. Those "finger ridges" should be positioned downwards, because in this direction would be unconfortable.
Video and restoration both of the highest quality! I was worried until the very end about those like & subscribe stickers, glad they are not visible anymore.
Aren't you forgetting all of the reflectors and the BMA/6 Certified label sticker? Hah. Great job!

wonderful, best channel on youtube
👍 Klasse gemacht. Ist wie aus dem Laden.
Awesome work. I enjoyed every second of the video. just the crank needs to be alligned still. Therefore the bolt has to be inserted on the other side on the crank.
Nice size. Easy to use and lightweight.
I normally lubricate all the Cables & pivot points. It's easy to add chain self lubricator, no need to lube each link manually.
awesome restoration, really enjoyed it. Just one small advise: I like to grease the inside of the tubes, so that no grease gets pressed out of e.g. the seatstay.
