I put in my 90 day notice to leave my work (here in the US) on February 5th with the plan to live out my dream exploring Russia for the rest of the year. That plan is now on hold, and I will probably be there in Armenia as well as the other Russian speaking countries instead of Russia itself. This whole situation is an ongoing nightmare. It barely feels real. We all wish for peace. Good luck Max, your efforts are well appreciated.

Max and Yulia, many prayers for you as you travel, for your safety and that you will be received with open arms by everyone whose paths you cross. I've been watching y'all for 4 years now, and I truly feel as if I've just received news from old friends. May Sts. Christopher and Xenia intercede for you.

Для этого хорошие люди должны оставаться в России и протестовать, как бы опасно это ни было. "All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men/women to do nothing". Therefore you should try to set up a channel (through whatever media possible) where you talk to Russians in Russia and give them the truth about the war and the oppressions. Thank you for continuing with your work and the Russian language content you post. I've found it really useful and entertaining too. )

это было первый ролик, который я посмотрел и уже подписал! несколько лет назад начал изучение русского языка и мне кажется, что особенно сейчач надо изучать язык "врага" (люди конечно не враг), потому что решение конфликов - это не насилие но коммуникация. Поэтому по-моему изучать (и тоже работать учителем русского языка) русский язык - это конструктивное дело. Обожаю русских, которые не хотят признавать диктатуру в России и войну на Украине. @@eugene8498 we are talking about different subjects. Did you try to live in another country anytime ? I have tried 2 times. I am from Turkey. I lived 3+ years in Kiev, Ukraine and I lived İn US for a year. Starting a new life in a new country is not something people who lack the courage can do. Because it's definitely not an easy thing.

I am truly gobsmacked by how beautiful Yerevan is. Suddenly, it has been elevated to almost my top place to go visit. If I were you, I would stay there. :-) Serbian should be very easy for you to learn. Centuries ago (almost literally) when I was doing my graduate studies in Slavic lit., I studied Serbian (then, Serbo-Croatian) and it wasn't difficult at all. Best of luck!! You and Yulia have such positive energy, wherever you go, I'm sure you will thrive.

I'm happy to see that you are safe! It is horrible to know that you cannot express your opinion freely in your own country and to see that your government is commiting such a crime, against all morality. Just to let you know, now I will be watching your videos even more often because I live in Poland and with all the refugees from Ukraine we hear Ukrainian and Russian everywhere in the streets and I feel highly motivated to improve my (basic) Russian skills to be able to communicate and help more and better. And thanks to you, my comprehension skills are quite ok! At the beginning, my main motivation to learn Russian was to be able to travel to the east, I would never think that it would become such an useful tool in everyday life. I truly wish you all the best, thank you for staying sincere to yourselves and your beliefs and sharing this with the world.

Congrats on making it to Yerevan :) For centuries Armenia was caught in the middle of conflicts between Persia and Rome, maybe similar to Ukraine's situation now? Sometimes they were on one side, sometimes the other, sometimes Armenia was split in two, sometimes they worshipped Hellenic and Zoroastrian deities alongside each other...

I think you made the right choice because in your last two videos you spoke very openly about the war and it can be dangerous to stay in Russia for you. My wife and I are hoping to at least travel to Armenia and Georgia in the next couple of months and if the situation gets worse, we might be moving more permanently too! It's good that they're welcoming the Russians in Armenia, I think the Georgians are a little more concerned about it, which I can understand given what happened to them about 15 years ago.

@@RussianWithMax It's not so simple for us to leave because we have a mortgage, a cat and a pretty good life here. So we'll only leave if the economic situation becomes really bad (like hyperinflation) or if the political situation becomes really crazy (like police knocking at my door and asking why I use the word 'war' when I talk about the situation on twitter and youtube.)
