Russians don't realize they're using cases LOL

Ever asked a native for help with grammar and they just say, "I dunno, I just speak it." Dana and I played a game called "Teach me my language", it was super fun! I learned what an "uncountable noun" in English is!

Fascinating. I remember when I was learning Spanish decades ago, and my friend, a native speaker, could not answer grammatical questions. She'd say, "Don't get all fancy!" She knew HOW to say things correctly; she didn't know WHY those things were correct. I think it's like asking a fish how to swim.
В начальной школе я бы на раз два ответила) а сейчас уже все забыла и все интуитивно
It happens in all languages, we learn our mother tongue intuitively, we might know some grammar that we are taught in school but that's all.
I told a russian friend of mine russian was hard because all the cases it had, she told me Spanish also had and I was convinced she was mistaken until I looked it up, it's funny that the language you know the most is the least you know of
I teach Cebuano too, but Cebuano native speakers don't know any of the cases.
