As someone who is Russian (have been there many times, speak Russian as my first language, but lived in Canada my whole life), you're definitely right that you can get some really good produce - especially at markets like these ones - for "cheap" ... but you have to keep in mind the average wage in Russia (especially outside of Moscow/St. Petersburg) relative to Canada! Combine that with what's happening with the Ruble currently, and you will realize that the prices aren't actually "cheap" for someone who lives and works in Russia. With that said, there's no doubt that we are getting price gouged for our food in Canada right now.

Boy those strawberries are so big and they look so delicious our strawberries here are really good but our cherries we have the best cherries anywhere in the state of Michigan has the best cherries anywhere in the United States And California has the best strawberries anywhere in the USA and I saythat because I was born and raised in California and moved to Michigan when I was 39 and now I’m 68.
