First answer - they captured them because ran out of gas, stuck in the mud , Russian position over runned and they wanted to get the fuck out of dodge, Ambushed a recognize unit and they were damaged. I was looking at some footage early in the conflict. Lots of those tanks that the Russians sent down toward Kiev from Belarus were 30 to 40 year old tanks. I'm wondering if Putin was playing a game with Ukraine. They sent a bunch of junk toward Kiev to make Ukraine think Kiev was going to be a primary push when really they don't want Kiev and just the east, coast and a land bridge to transnistria. Many of those old rust bucket tanks moving on Kiev were quickly abandoned and the Ukrainians wasted ammo taking them out. I maybe wrong but it looks kind of planned. Move a big number of tanks that you don't mind sacrificeing with a skeleton crew to throw the enemy off.

@@kenrickcooper533 if you do some research on Russian tanks and look at all the videos you will see they sent hundreds [maybe a thousand] of those T 55 and T 55 tanks. Those are very old. I have not seen the new one yet T 14 Armada. I did see some of those T 90s but they were in the eastern area. Russia has also not had any of their newer plane in the war too. Kind of strange. Almost like they are saving them for when NATO gets into the war. Sending out a 1000 35 year old tanks so Ukraine wastes those $200k Javlins would be smart. He bankrupting the west who are spending billions, he gains ground even with old used up equipment and he shows Ukraine I got 10 time the equipment and man power. They say the US has basically gone through some stock piles of weapons.
