What a wonderful variation on Russian spiral! I think the drama of this look would show off wonderfully in a necklace. The second and third versions you show remind me of Dutch spiral, with the lacy feel of that stitch. I'm very excited to try this stitch!

Wonderful tutorial and this looks very nice... For me this also looks like a Dutch spiral... I like the blue , green, gold combination. Did you you use size 15 after the 11/0 s or the single bead is alsi 11/0.. Kindly let me know as I want to try this.

+Mahalakshmi S It does kind of look like a Dutch Spiral, but without all the increases and decreases. I used a size 11 after the 15s. I hope you have fun! :)

G'Day My Wonderful Friend, I have been wondering where you have been all this time ...great to see you back!. One of my loves in beading is doing the Cellini stitch and I find that it is very relaxing to do. I did a bracelet in the Russian Spiral style and even though it looked OK I didn't like the way you could see my threads. It didn't matter how much I tightened it, it didn't seem to matter so I haven't done another and turn to doing Cellini instead. After watching this video I might at some stage give the Russian Spiral another try.... now that I know how to fix those showy little threads. In your last video (about Bead Embroidery) I mentioned that I was having a hard time trying to find Ultra Suede. I have found something that I can use. I call it a cousin to the Ultra Suede and it's called Butter Suede. It looks like it but is slightly softer and it does have a slight bias to it and it tends to fray a little if not sewn straight away. The other thing that I have found is Stiff Felt and is just a little thicker than the Stiffy Stuff (can't remember it name but its what you sew the beads onto) and I think that it works just as good if not better. It seems to hold the weight of the beads better then the other stuff. I have made a sample by using both and edge it with a variety of different shape and sized beads and they worked beautifully. There's been no fraying of the suede and looks the same as if I used the other materials. The best part and the most important to me is that it is easy and cheap to obtain. I would say that any good Fabric Store would sell both items and if you live in OZ (Australia) then any Spotlight store sells both. It even gets better as I can buy a piece of stiff felt (21.5 x 30 cms) for a $1.75 and a piece of the Butter Suede (20 cms x 128 cms) for $3.55. I have enough of the suede to done a large amount of designs. Buying the Ultra Suede it would cost me much more and I could only get enough for one small project. I am sure that you could buy it in other place around the world. Thanks for this video and once again it's great to see you back. I would like to see anything that has to do with Cellini stitch. Looking forward to your next video but don't stay away to long.....Blessings from Down Under.......

+Chris Phillips Thanks so much for your comment! I'm sorry to have been away so long -- it's a long story, but basically I got into a nest of fire ants and my hands were a mess for quite awhile -- definitely not something that looked good on a video, LOL! Thank you so much for letting those "Down Under" know the substitutes you found -- I know items that we can come by easily in the States may not be as easy elsewhere. It's great that you experimented to find what works well! And do give Russian Spiral another chance, now that you know the secret to hiding those threads! I do have a Cellini Spiral necklace in the works; it just may be awhile until I do the video (hopefully not too long). Til then, Blessings to you as well! :)

+Beaded Jewelry Diva They sound like very nasty little beasties and it must have been a very harrowing experience for you but it's great to know that you are OK now and be able to enjoy beading again. You are the first person (from the USA) to state that things are cheaper and more easily obtainable and that we overseas find it hard or expensive to buy materials.....I thank you on the behalf of my fellow beading sisters. I know that I have read on other sites that it's also expensive and hard to get for those living in England. Mostly it has to do with shipping and customs costs and money exchange rates. Mostly the only choice is to seek out beads from China....some are very good while others are aren't but they offer free postage. The time factor in delivery time can be very frustrating ....it can take several weeks to arrive. Looking forward to the Cellini necklace.... stay well....

+Nilza Pereira De Melo G'Day My wonderful friend, I have not heard of it and as I live in OZ (Australia) i'm not sure if I can buy it here. Thank you for letting me know and I will look around to see if I can buy it. You can get a product that you coat very lightly around material that is likely to fray. It drys clean and can be easy work through and no fraying. It was a round a few years ago and I will search to see if I can also buy it to help. The Butter Suede is still holding firm on what I have used it on so it may be it's OK to use. Thank you for your kind suggestion and it was very nice to meet you and I look forward to hearing from you soon..........

+tonya velasquez Good question! I think for a tubular stitch, I would recommend the regular Russian Spiral. For a flat stitch, I'd recommend even count peyote. Two others that you might think about are the spiral and the flat spiral.

+tonya velasquez Personally, I would not. I'd use a beading thread like KO or G-One. Nymo would be my last place suggestion for thread, but if that is all you have then go for it!
