Well I can certainly tell you that Russia as a whole does not really give a crap about The Westerns stupid sanctions, My wife actually has friends in Moscow and she spoke with him yesterday afternoon they're doing just fine everybody's fine people in Russia are going about their business like they always do the average citizen is doing wonderful... And yeah they actually still do have access to their money in the bank the Swift system sanction only really affects international accounts international trade... The country is running just fine internally they really do not need the West I mean this is the saying everybody is realized the West isn't as relevant as it once was and that's a hard pill to swallow and it to a lot of people brings up the question of loyalty or patriotism! But the number of the situation is you know where the bozos that ran Ukraine They're not Innocent they had political prisoners the other situation is is Ukraine as a whole Is not Innocent simply over the past couple of decades Russia has more than been aware and more than notice they're human trafficking issue largely stealing people from Russia! they're on the other hand no rush is not exactly innocent either this is primarily why I believe we should stay out of it coupled with the fact that yeah a lot of it really does have to do with a pipeline that the United States doesn't like Europe being on simply because it means that they would be turning East and ignoring the Petro dollar! As far as how it's going to affect us, well the truth of it is is it's not really going to affect us it's our own government is going to do a whole host of things to make sure that it at least feels like it's affecting us this is exactly why idiot governors are doing stupid crap like pulling rush and vodka that's already been paid for off the shelf! And then of course their pals over at the oil companies are going to use any cut off with Russia about the oil or even just the entire situation they've already done so as an excuse to raise prices so yeah in that effect it will affect us except it's bullshit it really shouldn't affect us they're just saying it does and then everybody raises prices and then here it is on your doorstep!

@@RexGalilae Oh I hate the racism card. It is not that we dont care about wars in other countries, it is just that when it goes on for a long time then people automatically care less. Like, I am so used to hear about the terrible news in the middle-east so that it has become the norm. It sucks I know, but that is how it works. Furthermore, we in Sweden have let a lot of refugees from those countries to enter our country and get a lot of benifits such as appartments and monthly incomes taken from our population's tax money. Sadly the crime rate has risen a lot and gang wars are becoming more and more common. However, Russia attacking Ukraine is not okay. We can not just ignore it because there are fights in other countries aswell. Plus that Ukraine is in Europe and wars affect us more when it hits close to home. Like now many of us are worried that the WW3 will start, or that Putin will send out nukes. This gives people anxiety. This also proves that Russia is a scary neighbor, and suddenly both Sweden and Finland want to join Nato even though we refused earlier. Another reason why we may care more about countries in the west is because those countries share similar ideals, although a few countries in Europe and a few states in US are a bit extreme. Like, most of us share the same ideals that men and women are equal, we have similar thoughts about animal cruelty, abortion rights, religion should not decide politics, free speech, open media, free to love and marriage the same sex, free to look however you want, etc. Sadly, many countries are behind in these ideals and that also hurt connections

@@Canal10000 The middle east wasn't always a cesspool of violence. There was never a massive outcry for the Afghans when they were invaded first by Soviets, then USA. No care for when peaceful nations were plunged into war led by USA+friends. You're putting the cart before the horse. The very reason for this banality of violence in the middle east IS the Western people's lack of care for it. The Palestinians have always had it worse than the Ukrainians but they weren't, to quote some people, blue eyed blonde people. So Israel sits happily committing apartheid against a sovereign nation while Russia is being sanctioned to hell for compromising their own mission to minimize civilian losses. Unlike Ukraine, you won't find unarmed cases of civilians stopping armoured vehicles in Palestine because they'd be shot down with impunity. I hate the racism card more than you do but this is clear as day. You talk about fears of WW3 but there's still no chance that's happening at this rate. However, you have people claiming that NATO needs to step up and deploy troops to directly fight Russia which is guaranteed to start a world war. Where were these warmongers when it came to Israel vs Palestine? Black people and Indians are being beaten up at the borders and being prevented from finding safety while every "blue eyed" Ukrainian is welcome. How can I not play the race card here? And then there's the glorifying and romanticising of Ukrainian militia (including the neonazi azov brigade) for committing the same acts that middle easterners get called terrorists for. Also, thanks for spelling out the fact that you don't care as much for deaths of people that disagree with your views lol

@@Canal10000Western hypocrisy is still glaringly obvious during these times regardless. Not only the media, but even regular people sure are suddenly more concerned that their “civilized” and “Not third world” neighbor is experiencing war. The west sure didn’t care when the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003. Where were the sanctions then? The west sure doesn’t give a damn about Israel’s apartheid. No sanctions to Israel either, huh? It’s not a race card, it’s just a truth some people like you have a hard time to accept. Western powers aren’t only doing this because they care about Ukraine either, in the end it’s all about Russia. They can’t wage a conventional war like in old times, because of nuclear weapons. Now that Russia is challenging the geopolitical standing that has been in place for decades. It’s challenging the global superpowers. Giving them the perfect opportunity to wage a different kind of war. The west aren’t obviously just going to standby and watch Russia threaten their security and position in the world. This could change the power and influence the west holds over the world in the future. I wouldn’t expect it to change too much anyways.

We are definitely going to feel the impact of this war as we do a lot of trade with Ukraine and Russia. Our economy is in shambles right now and the lack of forex into our country has led us to a massive energy crisis. We generate electricity by burning fossil fuels so the inability to purchase them has led to power disruptions all over the island with 7-hour long blackouts. The uncertainty of a solution to these energy demands while the economy keeps crumbling away daily due to artificial exchange rates and hyperinflation due to excess money printing is damaging an already crippled industry and an important contributor to the GDP, tourism. I can't help but wonder whether the wheat (and other food) shortages might prove to be the biggest problem. We're coming up on planting season, and you can't just delay planting crops for a few months until things calm down. Plus, with imports to Russia cut off, they won't be able to get the seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, etc which agriculture requires. Same with Ukraine. Not to mention that no cargo ship is going to be excited about docking in the Black Sea ports. For countries like the US which can supply their own food, we'll see price increases, but for Middle Eastern and North African countries which import large amounts of food from Russia and Ukraine, there could very well be famines.

Of course the sanctions are going to hurt the West too. This goes without saying. All the European nations, but in particular, Germany, will suffer due to sanctions. This is why it took them awhile to come around, but Germany and other nations have decided to go on wartime footing, so they are willingly making a sacrifice to support Ukraine. They didn’t explicitly say this to the public, because it went without saying: Europe will especially suffer from trade sanctions.

There's a reason no government openly admits to this. The public are fickle by nature. They talk about sanctions and going to war like there will be no consequences for it but when they're met with rising prices and conscription, they take to the streets again. People are myopic and quick to action. It's up to the government to either temper those sentiments or cave in.

@@mohq9573 IMO, the beginning of the end was when people from our supposed "ally", Saudi Arabia, hi-jacked American passenger jets and flew them into the twin towers and we did nothing about it, except retaliating like little puppets against countries that had nothing to do with it. We sank $2.4 trillion (yes, with a T) into meaningless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq that left both in shambles. What did we, Americans, TRULY get from these wars other than ensuring Iraq was in the puppet sphere? Then we continued with covert support for ME uprisings and toppled Libya, leading to islamists taking over and open slave markets starting but we couldn't topple Syria. Over a million innocent civilians died between all of these conflicts, and it's a direct result of the US just... meddling. Don't get me wrong -- I completely acknowledge we, as a country, have done this for a very long time. The difference now is we leverage our economy to the conflict, we spend way more than we ever have, and more people die. This model isn't sustainable. We are choosing sending billions in weapons to Ukraine (which is futile in the end) over educating the poorest and most under-educated people in the country. Imagine how many lives would be transformed in Alabama from an investment of the same size as we non-nonchalantly made in the last week.

Gold had a what a couple hundred dollar run up? Nobody is running to gold on a large scale. Governments already have positions in gold and individuals don't want to drag around physical coins. On the other hand, smaller govts are beginning to put BTC on the balance sheets and individuals can access btc for small transactions. El Salvador is launching a BTC bond in a few weeks. Point is, asymmetric upside. The positive risk (aka opportunity) that BTC continues to be adopted is greater than the negative risk (threat) of BTC stagnating and/or going to nothing.

Your last words on the damages and misery brought by war, are words of wisdom. But I believe that if one does not try to analyze the reasons that led to this catastrophe and try to right them, then nothing positive can be expected to come out.

megalomania and a desire for the 'certainties' of the past - there is an interesting chapter in Alain De Botton's book The Architecture of Happiness that describes how the grandiosity of the architecture of The Kremlin seems to go to it's leaders head - especially if they become powerful and paranoid.

@@rossgeography I don't think skewing the reasons that led to this catastrophe is very healthy. The reasons cannot be reduced to megalomania only. Hope you get what I mean.

I think it's a mistake to try to equivocate Ukraine's desire for self-determination with Russian aggression and autocracy - Lavrov is Putin's cipher - there is little Russian consensus politically or publicly - Putin reportedly presented the invasion as a fait-accompli to the Russian cabinet; you can't two-sides this, even though Putin's mouthpieces will try, just as there is no two sides to the shooting down of a passenger jet by a Russian Buk missile in 2014 - they are already claiming that Ukrainians broke this mornings ceasefire and are shelling their own evacuees :/

Removal of Russian products from the stores in Estonia has caused shortages in products that almost entirely consisted of Russian import, such as soda, salt, and a variety of dry products as well as household chemicals. :(
