    Heavy battles are ongoing near the city of Artemosk (former Bakhmut). Ukrainian forces continue bloody attempts to break through Russian defence both on the western and and southern flanks. In their turn, Russian servicemen are fiercely resisting, holding their positions, and counterattack inflicting more damage to the Ukrainian units. Fierce fighting is ongoing west of Klescheevka, where Ukrainian forces continue attempts to take control of an important stronghold on a hill near the village. The strategically important military positions, which pave the way to establish fire control of the village, were captured by both of the warring sides several times. By the evening of July 19, reports from the front claimed that the AFU were again repelled from the area and Russian forces took back control of the stronghold. The both sides are suffering heavy losses, but Ukrainian casualties are much higher. At the same time, the situation remains tense on the western flank of the Russian grouping in Artyomovsk. The AFU continue attacks in different directions, including near the village of Dubovo-Vasilyevka. A video from the area showed another Ukrainian attempt to destroy Russian military position. A column of Ukrainian armored vehicles, which included two tanks and two infantry fighting vehicles, was filmed approaching Russian trenches and shooting it with guns at close distance. Russian anti-tank forces opened response fire and first hit the T-64BV tank with the ATGM. The BMP-2 was also hit by a missile. The BMP-1 was destroyed and only one member of its crew survives the strike but he was heavily wounded. His comrads escaped and left him dying on the battlefield. Some Ukrainian servicemen, who survived the attack on the BMP-2, attempted to storm the trenches which were defended by ONE Russian servicemen before the reinforcements arrived. As a result, Ukrainian operation failed and the Russian military secured the control of the positions.

    Emotional damage for Ukraine today and every day

  • @MusketeerYanick

    Ok let’s analyse this comment so we’re sure you know what the reality is. 1) Indeed the Ukraine offensive was a failure, although they lost some equipment, luckily none of their best brigades were used. 2) Ukraine still has a massive stockpile of armoured vehicles etc, so they have room for another offensive when air support and F16’s arrive. Now let’s see what Russia has done over this war: 1) They lost past year more territory than they gained 2) They will never be able to fully capture Ukraine, just never probable not even the Donbas. 3) They massacred tens of thousands of innocent civilians for some fully destroyed villages and towns 4) They did not disarm Ukraine, they only made it much more hostile and armed with likely Nato membership or another agreement when the war is over. Now some more geopolitical and national issues caused by this war: 1) Europe is now much closer to US 2) Nato is more aligned than ever and rearming massively (see Germany) with much more modern high tech equipment. Much like the rearming of the Wehrmacht in the 30s (much more high tech) with new tactics learned from this war 3) Most Russian intellectuals have fled the country, so a large scale Russian brain drain is happening, which will destroy future GDP together with sanction once China and India don’t need Russian gass no more. 4) Russian invasion has crushed Sweden’s centuries old neutrality. Sweden, Finland will join Nato, so Russia will have a direct Nato ally on the border. 5) No one can say otherwise that Russia has some major internal political problems, the Wagner coup was not faked, the FSB has indeed arrested conspirators (some generals) with the Wagner forces. If you know anything about Russian history this is a very bad sign for Putin’s regime. So, again, Russia has some tactical gains here and there. They defended smart and well, but against a much weaker force without any air power: Nato will deliver this air power for sure in the months to come and Russia is too afraid to do anything about this and to provoke Nato. So yeah strategically this is a complete and self destructive failure for Russia, so actually emotional damage for Russia every day

  • @CaptainGrimes1

    @CaptainGrimes1

    @@MusketeerYanick okay let's analyse your comment to see the reality 1. Ukraine offensive has been a massive failure with huge casualties they can't afford and has resulted in a wavering of western support with their demands for constant supplies and more weapons now starting to irritate their western backers. Ukraine has western equipment but if that supply stopped they'd have nothing. They also don't have the support infrastructure in place to maintain and repair the equipment they have received. Ukraine has lost nearly 20% of its territory in the last year and has only gained a small portion back. Nato has expanded but importantly hasn't included Ukraine, Putin doesn't care about Sweden or Finland. The war has shown western tanks and material can be destroyed by Russian arms, a lesson for China here not to mention the battlefield technology the Russians are picking up from Nato equipment combined with the experience their army is getting will make them more of a formidable force than they were a year ago. Though the west has sanctioned Russia that represents just 20% of the world, the other 80% still deals with Russia including China and India, both huge and growing economies. It will only take a few elections in Europe and one in the USA to change official policy on Ukraine completely, Russia can wait it out. Putin may be in a weaker state, he may be gone soon but that won't change the war, indeed you might get a more ruthless and effective leader.

  • @MusketeerYanick

    @@CaptainGrimes1Hey, thanks for you reaction but I can see your having a cloudy vision about what the reality says, let me help! 1. You have actually no source to back your claims Western support is wavering. Nato just gave promises for more weapons and support. Trump is not president yet although I indeed believe he will try to stop the bloodshed, but not on Russian terms) he still has to deal with Nato! 2. Indeed the offensive was a massive failure, but as many pro-russian analysts agree due to a lack of air support. I don’t think this is the last Ukrainian offensive of this war! Still doesn’t disprove my point on the pointlessness of this war for Russia. 3. Most Russians believe Russia invaded Ukraine because of Western expansionism. If you know anything about Russian history, having a Nato member (Finland of all countries) on your border is very important to Russians. 4. It is not 20% my friend. Still Russia now needs to sell at very low prices to China and India and are dependent on nations who could go to war with one another very easily (Pakistan) not a stable partner tbh. 5. What is the point knowing a german made tank can be destroyed? It’s arguable to me this will help China at all as they have no battlefield experience at all. Why are you so sure Russia will have a very experienced army by the time this war ends? Did Germany have a formidable army after their defeat? Do experienced soldiers never die, get wounded or quit the army? Nato is actively training their generals and tech without lifting a finger on the battlefield, now what is better? Still you have not disproven my arguments on the pointlessness of this war, how Russia had gone through a self-destructive path (brain drain etc) without gaining anything. It was a massive miscalculation on Putin’s part that costs the lives of thousands every day. You are so sure Western opinion will change, but you don’t mention Russian opinion. Have you forgot about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan? Also most regime changes in Russia are combined with ending of wars. I want this war to end, but it should not be on Russian’s terms: they are the invaders and should be punished.

    @@CaptainGrimes1 Well, if you consider selling your oil at a big discount a success... Yes, China and India IS buying Russian oil. But only at a discount. Russia gets LESS money than the world price for oil is. If you sell your oil for 20 bucks less than you would have earned without the war, this is huge. Because the cost of your oil production stays the same. If you sell oil for 80 bucks and you have cost of 40 bucks, that nets you a nice profit. But if you have now to sell for 60 bucks, your profit is cut in half. That is huge. And that is one of the reasons, why the financial figures RUSSIAS CENTRAL BANK publishes are not good. Russia was in a great economic state before the war. Financial sound and stable. A surplus. Little debt. They even managed to accumulate a 3-digit billion fond for "bad times". When the west accumulated huge debts, Russia actually managed to create a big funds. That has turned by 180 degrees - the surplus is gone and Russia is accumulating debts. Again: That are RUSSIAN figures. Not figures by the West. And that Russia gets more and more depened on China is not a great thing - the East of Russia is rich in natural ressources. But Russia lacks manpower, knowledge and cash to exploit those ressources. Yeah, China can give those - but China knows that they are the only bidder. Guess how much Russia will earn by letting China exploit those ressources. If you only have 1 buyer and if this buyer knows he is the only one - you won't fetch a good price. Oh, and China considers this territory as Chinese territory by the way. It was taken away from them in an unfair treaty. They consider it historically belonging to China... Another fact is that China and the US are getting more and more influence in all the countries in the East - very much to the dislike of Russia. Russia always put much importance on Soviet (later Russian) dominance in these regions. Today their influence is lower that it has been since 100 years. That Nato is more popular than ever and increasing military budget is another fact. In Germany e.g. there was talk about not needing Nato/Bundeswehr at all. From "lets defund Bundeswehr completly" to "let's give Bundeswehr an additional 100 billion" in 3 month - that is impressive. Can Russia win militarily in Ukraine? Sure. But the rest - economics, politics - is a disaster.

    @tylo2015 You said agreement. The Budapest Memorandum was an agreement, signed by Russia, the UK and the US in which the words "reaffirm their commitment" and "reaffirm their obligations" appear repeatedly. No, of course Russia claims they weren't actually obligated to follow the Minsk agreements they signed, but that's entirely false. The agreements were between and signed by Ukraine and Russia. The LPR and DPR were not recognized as legitimate entities under the Minsk Agreements. Their signatures were added after they had already been signed by Ukraine, Russia, and the OSCE. Who do you think Article 10 refers to, if not the Russian forces who had been in Ukraine since 2014? Russia had no business militarily interfering. Russia engineered and instigated this conflict and is very much the aggressor.

They refused to implement Minsk 2, even though they signed the agreement, and every western nation said that was the best route to peace. Instead, they kept fighting, called the people of donbas terrorists, and feigned agreement in order to build up their forces.
