The musical community of St. Petersburg with huge impatience waited for this concert to here this original interpretation of "Les Noces" by Dmitry Pokrovsky Ensemble. The premiere of this version, was held in 1994 in the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York city, in the famous "Majestic Theater- the theater of Peter Brook, associated with the names of Balanchine, Cage, Steve Reich.
And this premiere became a true sensation in the musical society all over the world world. Ensemble sang in the style of folklore vocal tradition of south regions of russia and this has brought conpletely new vision of Stravinsky's music with real and powerful energy.
The 1-st International Festival of Contempprary Music "New horizons" gave the opportunity for the audience of Saint-Petrsburg to hear this unique version at the Mariinsky Theatre Concert hall.
