    100% correct. the U.S. Army rations are children's food, with tons of sugar. i was an Infantryman in Iraq, and we had to eat a lot of them.. all i wanted was some real food; meat & vegetables.. but half or more of the U.S. MREs are candy or sugar drinks etc. i've researched many MREs from around the world, and the Russian MREs are actually nutritious.. but lack in flavor and variety. if i were a Russian soldier in the trenches, i would bring with or have sent to me a seasoning packet or bottle of sauce from home.

    I don’t disagree. I feel like American soldiers, the way we play the game..we don’t sit in a hole for a month. I’m not trying to be condescending..It’s just overall observation. We’ll do a mission and be back to base for cafeteria food. (In general) Now?..well apparently, we don’t even fight. We’ll send soldiers in from other countries and just tell them what to do 😅 whatever works I guess.

    A soldier weighing 70 kg is supposed to consume 2,500 calories per day. In Russian army MRE, this figure is much higher - from 3,600 to 4,700 calories, depending on the manufacturer. The amount of protein does not exceed 120 g, fats amount to 200-300 g. MRE contain a lot of carbohydrates - from 370 to 421 g, depending on the set. The energy value varies between 19012 - 19707 kJ. The highest calorie content is characterized by IRP MRE No. 5 - 4707 calories. The least amount of calories is obtained after consuming IRP MRE No. 2 - 3670. And by the way, you are the first dude from the US (among the reviewers of the rations) who understands why there are a lot of fats in a russian MRE pack, at a temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius you simply will not survive eating american MRE!😁

  • @Bravebelly

    Thank you for your time in clarifying a lot of great info. It’s very intriguing to me, and I’m sure many others. I was told menu #2 is the best tasting, but of course that’s relative to the person. Surprised it’s the lowest in calorie content. I have two more of these; menu 6 & 7. I’ll be on the look out for #5 for sure. These Russian rations aren’t readily available here. When they pop up on the internet, it’s usually like 2 or 3 different menu #s and they’re quite expensive, $80-120. Regarding American reviewers commenting on the fat..it’s because they were raised eating in a different way. The FDA (food & drug administration) teaches us that animal fat is unhealthy. It’s part of our culture I guess. An American always cuts out the fat in his/her meat. We will eat something fried in oil, but the meat has to be trimmed of fat. 😆 it’s “unwanted” With time, eating this way..fat starts being disgusting and is always trimmed out. These people will eat McDonald’s but if you give them a steak with fat..they have to cut that part out! 😝 Now of course, this is not Everyone, including me. In general though. This is most likely the case with other reviewers who taste foreign MREs, so you can understand how perplexed they are when they see all this fat content. Hope that kind of sheds some light on this topic.

    @@Bravebelly Actually, vegetable and animal fat are very useful in a certain amount, also keep in mind that the Russian ration does not use preservatives and any kind of E - additives. Trans fats and GMOs are banned in Russia, only natural ingredients! And one more addition - according to the army regulations, such a MRE food can be consumed for 7 days in a row, during this time a field kitchen is deployed or soldiers are rotated to the rear where they eat ordinary food prepared by army chefs!

  • @Bravebelly

    @Bravebelly

    @@user-ne9rx8xi9y thats true also for the American MREs..its a common misconception that we just eat whatever.lol The American MREs have no preservatives added whatsoever . Everything is made to keep for a longer shelf-life through heating and packaging techniques. The menus go through extensive research to be sufficient in calorie and nutrient quality along with healthy digestion..for prolonged use. Up to 30 days! But there’s anecdotal cases of soldiers eating it for 60-90 days straight. The only difference is food choices. The Americans would look at pork pate and think..”this must be prison”, they would much prefer to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich..we grew up eating this way.

    @@Bravebelly maybe dude, but the burger at McDonald's in the US and in Russia is different in taste, and many foreigners like Russian burger more! This also applies to food in general, most foreigners claim a more natural taste of food in Russia. I draw this conclusion based on watching dozens of channels of foreigners from all over the world living in Russia. And I also don't think that nutrition for the US army is very different from the nutrition of ordinary americans, and statistics on obesity indicate that nutrition in general is not very healthy. But there is definitely a different food consumption culture in the states! In Russia, traditionally, food consists of soup as the first course, a side dish with meat or fish as the second course and a drink as the third course. When people come to any restaurant or cafe, they usually order a three-course set and this tradition has been going on since the Soviet era! Unfortunately, westernization has brought junk fast food and it upsets me!

    The Russian matches are much better in the MRE! I definitely agree with you on that! In the American MREs, they give us a large book of matches but if the wind is too strong they aren’t much good. Hello from America!

    on the quality, yes, the US takes a more steps to increase soldier morale through methods other than just food, but the Russians found it quite beneficial to instead just give a really proper meal, ours obviously will keep you alive or they wouldn't be in use, but they aren't really the food that's gonna make you excited, sometimes it really is true, it's the small things.

    Damn, bro! Your appetite for eating all this made me wonder why you were opening cans instead of devouring them like sandwiches, biting off large chunks of them. Good show!👍 To be serious, I will say that pork or even pork fat can't be used in the main dishes. Russia is a multi-religious country and quite a lot of the military are Muslims who are not allowed to eat pork. Only in a separate small jar of pork fat. Which can also be used to lubricate weapons, make a small torch by soaking a cloth with it, or protect metal parts from corrosion.

    Man that looks way better than U.S. MRE's, its so heavy! I bet if you got that stuff warmed near a fire or something it would bang even harder. I like how much you enjoy liver flavors, I have a few friends that we go hunting every year and they don't like liver, so when we butcher they give me all the livers. I love liver! Floured and pan fried with onions is my favorite. Mama taught me to soak it in milk overnight before cooking and I do that too, I have no idea if it actually helps but its the way I like it.

    You should really use the tablets and the matches to heat up the meals next time. Other reviewers I have watched claimed that most of these Russian MREs are one of the best ones they have had. Cold fat, which most of these meals contain high concentration of to keep you warm, has not a pleasant taste. But heat them up and they'll get real juicy, their looks get much better too.
