@@cdgncgn There wasn't even military personal there at the time they entered, because it was just a normal airport, so capturing it wasn't the problem. The problem was that, because the airport is near to the capital the air defence could reach it and some helicopters didn't even make it. After the guys dropped off there the Ukranians began a counter offensive and further reinforcements for the russians couldn't land there safly and turned there back on the comrades they already dropped off there. The VDV units were so scared they retreated to the forest.The Georgians (Mamuka Mamulashvili) even run out of ammo persuing the russians and rammed retreating russians with a truck.

Like especially any death/vehicles destroyed claims from either side should be taken with a mountain of salt The Russians have either or are in the process of surrounding the major cities of Eastern Ukraine. They have now cut off 50-70,000 troops in the Donbas. The Ukrainian air force is gone or in hiding aside from small drones. The Ukrainians started a haphazard Volksturm program on day 2 of the war. And we are nine days into this. You may cope, and I don't take any joy in this not being Russian or American or pro-Putin or Pro-Ukraine. But objectively, Russia is winning this war and the rate of advance is comparable to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The Ukrainian army will likely cease to exist as an effective fighting force within a few weeks, and at that point they best they can do is irregular warfare. Delusions feel good, but that doesn't make them any more real. The only truly bad thing for Russia so far is the economic sanctions which are going to hurt a lot especially in the short term, however steps are already being taken to get around them and Russia has survived the successive waves of sanctions before this.
