Russia Seriously Messed Up Making an Alliance with North Korea

The Russians did not consider at all the South Korea position after Putin signed a defense agreement with North Korea. Now South Korea's national security is at risk and they have an incentive to help Ukraine defeat Russia. Donald Trump and Nigel Farage stated this week that it was NATO's fault that Russia decided to invade Ukraine.

The comment about Britain and not being a fan of the Russian regime is very legitimate. Russia's Putin regime attacked the UK in Salisbury and poisoned numerous people in an attempt to kill Sergei and Yulia Skripal , there has also been similar attacks in London, the one on Alexander Litvinenko being one of them. The poison is radioactive and was very indiscriminate in its attack, affecting numerous people going about their day. The British Government had little to no recourse to take at the time, now we are handing out Challenger 2 tanks and Storm Shadows, hope they help. Glory to Ukraine.

  • @GCarty80

The purpose of the Salisbury poisonings was to intimidate Paul Manafort, who was then in a US federal prison awaiting trial, whose partner had just pleaded guilty, and who Putin feared was about to rat out potentially dozens of other Russian moles in the US. Since Putin's GRU hitmen couldn't practically get into the US prison, they decided instead to kill Yulia Skripal (who was about the same age as Manafort's daughter) to send him a message. This is why the GRU used a poison that specifically identified the Russian state as the attacker, and why they waited for Yulia to arrive back home (because she was indeed the intended target, not her father Sergei). When Manafort eventually pleaded guilty himself, the GRU's boss Korobov was invited into a meeting with Putin and was never seen alive again.

I'm from Serbia, I have a couple of friends in our weapons industry, us and Slovenians have been the most awful war profiteers ever since Syrian crisis. A lot of our army surplus and old tech got 'disappeared' and/or 'sent for decommission' (sold as old parts, but in actuality being shipped as already assembled weapons and vehicles) during the last decade, and we have been the two largests exporters (proportional to population) of military goods based on that until 2022, and that still continues, only with all of the inventory getting moved to Ukraine. The government turns the blind eye since money keeps pouring in, and we are fence sitting and publicly posturing for Russia, but doing anything we can to not piss EU countries off in terms of actual meaningful moves. We also ended up as one of safe harbors for 'normal' Russians who are anti-Putin and have escaped before the sanctions hit, and it seems that Putin likes it as their citizens are docile and tightly monitored here, and our government is happy as yet more money pours in. The regular folk aren't that thrilled tho, since the Russians we did get are mostly educated middle class youth working for foreign companies from St Petersburg and Moscow, so while they bring in a lot of money, they further fuel our broken housing bubble / money laundering scheme, making rents and housing prices to skyrocket (for reference, my apartment doubled in value since 2021, and rents went up 150%-300% while the average salaries went up by less than 10% and unemployment rate is steadily rising), and the majority of the money they spend is also spent in russia owned supermarkets with russian imported goods (that popped up in the last 3 years). Also, a wave of blockades on certain of our bank transfers just started happening, as Russia is using our banks as proxies to funnel money, so we might end up as another FAFO example if our bank system gets further locked out in the near future.

It is difficult to imagine war conditions.I feel for Ukrainians suffering every day, the war has gone on so long, and now war in Israel. We have the most critical election coming up in November and it's going to have disastrous effects world wide if Trump wins, he's pro Putin and a fascist. He won't fund Ukraine and already tried to blackmail Zelensky, and was caught.Republicans held up aide to Ukraine for over 6 months. Sorry this is so long, so much happening. Is Serbia peaceful now? You have inspired me to look it up and the history. Housing crisis exists here too, greedy investment firms capitalized on housing, rents keep rising but wages don't. Leadership matters. People may not be into " politics" but politics effects every aspect of life. I still know people that have never voted. I can't conceive of wasting a vote and not using it. Wishing you peace and a hopeful future for children and grandchildren.

Poor North Korean guy! To survive all that! My dad was a POW guard in Korea. He guarded N. Koreans and Chinese Army prisoners. He said they were so brain washed it wasn't even funny. He almost brought home a orphaned N Korean boy that had run for it. His first wife wouldn't let him. He found a older couple that took him in. I hope he had a long and happy life. Some of the tortures that he want through left him with many deficits that he constantly had to work to overcome. They tried to brainwash the POWs too! So... a) NK will never attack SK because NK will lose that war (and half it's troops will not come back to NK). b) Currently, Russia does NOT have the weapons to give to NK. That's one of the reasons Putin went to NK, to get weapons. SK is actually in a good place to give modern weapons systems to Ukraine in terms of stock. Secondly, that just further drains Russia and NK of weapons. Thirdly, Russia has to fight with the low quality NK weapons.

And they're abandoning it, betraying it even, to be friends with despotic countries who have none of the Western ideals that Russian culture generally has. Say what you will about the country, if you go talk to an ordinary person they'll generally have the same values as anyone from the US or Europe (of course there's differences but I mean as a whole). E.g., don't eat cats, respect women, help people in need, etc. The same cannot be said of North Korea or China.

With utmost respect etc, please either watch much less American "news" media or watch much MUCH more so you get all the different views. China is not the bad guy that American "news" media loves to paint them as, in the real world they just care about trade and about not being disrespected crazy hard by some orange fool and then a second time by some senile fool. Know that your country was built on Chinese loans and you fought all your wars with loans like that too, China has been #1 for a few decades already, they do not want war (because that hurts trade) but they're not going to stop trading _consumer goods_ with Russia after you tried to deny them *_several trillions worth in loans_* & then proceeded to turn that insane idea into some equally insane childish "trade war" that makes most of the world roll their eyes at America. 🤷‍♂ American "news" media doesn't deserve to be called news, it's a bunch of crazy sensationalist garbage channels and the only way you can extract any news from them is if you watch them all, which obviously is too much to be able to realistically do. No disrespect to Americans at all, but you people desperately need actual news coverage & you also really badly need an update (mostly just more choices) in your political system, you people are literally being indoctrinated too, while nowhere near as bad as Russians its still painfully obvious that it is happening.... Please, less American "news" media and more thinking for yourself, thanks.

No one in Sweden would love to go back to that age, and thanks to the EU, we can go to all the places we used to own, and far many more, plus we are actually welcome there. So I would go as far as to say that the reason we're a wealthy and healthy nation is that we've grown past that whole empire phase :)

Russia conspired with Serbia to start WW1 in 1914 to invade Western Europe, then invaded Poland in the 1920, then conspired with Germany to invade Poland again to start WW2. Then 2014 Crimea. In 100 years, Russia wanted to get Western Europe 4 times.

@@1queijocas France still has colonies, one of them recently resumed a state of unrest. The U.S. does not have colonies, but it does control overseas populations it keeps on a disadvantage. Australia has made a colony of Nauru. There are a few other examples, to say nothing of the corporation and warlord system in Africa that sees tens of millions of people's lives ruled by local cruelty directed by foreign greed. Russia and China are the only two countries actively trying to conquer the world. Mile by mile, body by body.

There is absolutely NO logic in restricting Ukraine from using weapons equal to the distance Russian weapons can reach Ukraine!!!

So South Korea could not give all out support to Ukraine, due to obvious reasons. They need a level of readiness which most nations do not need. They can sell excess weapons in order to maintain a production capacity readily enough, but they cannot deplete their storage. But now that North Korea and Russia has entered into an Alliance. With the possibility that, should Russia win in Ukraine, they will supply North Korea with weapons in return in the future. Well now South Korea MUST increase its support for Ukraine. Supporting Ukraine now, means a weaker North Korea in the future.

They can probably also up their production and create more "excess" weapons and ammo. They might have already prepared their factories to do so. Remember they silently sold ammo to western allies before, freeing up whatever ammo that ally had in stock to go to Ukraine. So while technically, SK didn't send ammo to Ukraine, they enabled others to do so.

If a dictator makes a visit to N. Koreea and is welcomed so spectacular, trust me, is not gonna end well for that dictator. It is a cursed place! Makes dictators mad. Ceaușescu, dictator of my country, Romania, made the same mistake. A lot of things changed to worse after that visit, for people. In '89 - it was a blood bath, not a simple revolutin.

Exactly what transpired in the Korean war. Russia and China supplied North Korea arms to fight South Korea and U.N. forces, mainly the U.S.A. And the same thing they did in the Vietnam war. Putin is just replaying what they did in the past. Those old alliances seem to never die when they want to spread evil once again.
