Russia will soon make a huge push once they receive north Korean aid .

  • @mwtrolle

Do you expect North Korea to send 100.000 plus soldiers to fight? Because if not I don't really see what they can send in the qualities needed to make a difference. They have been sending huge amounts of 152mm shells, though of poor quality, it got an effect but it won't be anything new! As they have had that supply for some good time now, NK can't really deliver them faster than they do already. Anyway, russias main problem regarding artillery now seems to be the degradation of barrels. Whit the increased attention between NK and SK I don't find it likely NK will start sending hundreds of thousands soldiers or a bigger number of artillery pieces anyway. Most of their other equipment is extremely outdated and of relatively little use. Maybe they dot some rockets and missiles that could be useful, but they don't have them in numbers that will change much!

It's so painful that modern warfare is now so slow like ww1 fronts. Where are the 100km breakthroughs like ww2? Front line too large to ammass hundreds of thousands of troops in one spot ? I'm stupid clearly but it's so strange it's so slow going.

It is not modern warfare just the current situation in Ukraine. Drones make a huge difference preventing build up and armoured support in the way it used to. But it is also both sides having enough troops and weapons. But also in this same war Russia took land quickly and Ukraine retook the North quickly.

Russia isn't fighting an all out war. It has at most 750,000 troops, and not all of these are deployed to the front. The Red Army had 16 million men under arms. Russia is fighting a Special Military Operation with a shoestring budget. Most Russians aren't even feeling any effects of the war, as can easily be told when watching videos coming out of Russia, people going about their normal business.

It could just be a shaping attack again. Russia just probes and pushes a weak spot. This draws in reserves. Which shapes any other russiaan probe. Like a boxer jabbing, then delivers an upcut.

The reason russia doesn't attack up from the south seems relatively obvious, their logistics to support an attack there are not that good, and the terrain isn't that favorable for an attacker. russia have already had huge losses when trying to attack from there. To get up to the roads and cut them off from the south would require them to get relatively far, something they clearly don't expect to be able to for the time being. Attacking in the north even if the gains is small, got a bigger propaganda value!

Disagree. Russian forces have no other alternative than to take Toretsk. If Russian forces go between Chasiv Yar and Toretsk to encircle Toretsk, they will be trapped by three sides: from the North by Chasiv Yar artillery, from the South by Toretsk and from the front by Kostyantynivka. Taking Toretsk is the correct tactical maneuver by pinning Ukrainian forces against Kyvvi Toretsk river system. Retreating from Toretsk will be difficult and risky. By taking Toretsk, it opens up Ukrainians Southern flank in Chasiv Yar. The more surface area, the more disadvantageous it is. The Russian commander who ordered the advance into Toretsk knows what he is doing. Astounding. Russian field commanders are getting smarter after every battle. 😮 Russian commanders are evolving away and out of being Orcs under Shoigu. Belousov is what was needed to turn this tide? Huh? Professional and rationally thinking minister with business and economics background who has no bias nor prejudice and backs professional soldiers with resources needed. Hmmm...

A correction to what you said. russia doesn't have a huge advantage in artillery, they had when the MAGA's blocked the US support and the Czech initiative was not delivering yet. That has changed now. russia might have more shells and artillery pieces that Ukraine, but they are mainly of a shorter range and far from artillery when it comes to precision. We have seen how this works before. When Ukraine got the shells they needed, the russian losses to counter-battery fire growns rapidly forcing them to be much more careful in how they use artillery and to spread them out instead of grouping them up(that makes them far more efficient) , they will probably even get pushed almost out of the battle zone.
