He is not underrated its just nowadays he mocks his audience like same old jokes. Really wish he does new material, like Kevin Hart now also just takes too much time on one joke and stretches it out

In my opinion, Russell is the first comedian who opened the platform to other brown comedian to joke at their own ethnicity, he normalized ethnic jokes. Most people are so offended at ethnic jokes but Russel knew how to make it fun and normalize it. He first jokes at himself then ease into others.. he started in 90s. Most of other different ethnicity comedians followed the platform which Russell opened for all.

I wouldn't look at it that way. For example, there are many American comedians who can play arenas in the U.K. or Australia (Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Louis C.K., Amy Schumer) but there aren't many non-American comedians outside of Trevor Noah to my knowledge who have played arenas here in the U.S.
