Recorded from "Theatre Le Chatelet", Paris - 3rd November 2010
Russell Malone is actually playing the "Unchained Melody", last track from his last album "Triple Play", 2010.
This guy is such an amazing musician, there are not many videos of him so I just HAD to share his talent.
As usual, rate and comment if you enjoyed this piece :)

wow,, Mr. Ron Carter
Incredible how high humans can reach. This is really a soul performing a divine act.
Sounds like music that fell from heaven and poured out through the soul of this man.
Most gorgeous phrasing I've ever heard.
Russell MAlone....such a kick ass name!
Very nice when someone spends the time to dive deep into the instrument and their own subconscious mind.It takes discipline, meditation, being open and a focused surrender but so beautiful to hear the subconscious release. Practice and hard work pay a huge part and listening to others. You can still he has studied improvisation and learned about the colors of chords etc.
This is what I imagine as freedom. Being able to play like this.

If you work hard enough, and study hard enough, you will be able to play like this. I completely agree with you btw

I m working for 3 year since I ve been listening to this who put me in the jazz, I begin to touch the total freedom of expression, even if I m still far from this. if you are reading this keep going bros, you can do it ! :)
I went to school with Russell at Monroe high school in Albany GA and he was GREAT back then!!!!
one of my favourite solo jazz guitar performances of all time
No pressure,it’s Russell ,one of the most beautiful tones I’ve ever heard on a guitar as a youngster watching him in NY clubs.
I can't believe how good this man is
Stunning. I KNEW that is what the jazz guitar could sound like.
I could listen to this all day every day.
True talent and dedication.
that's arpeggio technique any classical guitarist would like, and the sound is fantastic
This brought me to tears. Pure human emotion right there. What a talent.
Wow!... (in tears)... Great job, Russell. We all miss Lenny Breau.
I closed my eyes and went off to heaven for a brief time. Thank you Russell Malone
whoa, man, the guy is tapping out arpeggios!....awesome style and sound....I had never heard of this guy until last night...
I always listen to this when i'm feeling down, it always helps get through tough times :)
I was fortunate enough to meet Russel in Akron Ohio at a benefit concert and had my picture taken with him and bought his c.d. He's really a nice guy, wouldn't it be great to hang out with him for a day or two.
stunningly beautiful
Not a lot of Malone on UTube...playing solo...what a great player.....
yeah, please post more. who needs TV? when one can have Russell Malone on KZread.

God bless u Russel!!! Just amazing
so sensitive and beautiful...
I see shimmering stars when I hear this....
Very Beautiful.........
thank God for Russell Malone.
As a layman who has no idea about playing jazz, I dont think i can ever understand what people mean when they say things like,"this guy or that guy is a jazz master"...I guess it's for people who can literally play the wrongest notes in the rightest way. That's all I can think of as a guy with zero jazz experience. To me, if you can 'understand' it...you are far better than me. The keys change every freaking bar, sometimes more than once in a single bar. How the hell do you play on that. Playing so many accidentals so tastefully. I can never do that. Even though I've heard about so many jazz legends, I have no reason to not believe that Russell Malone is one of the greatest jazz guitar players alive today. Hands down. He makes you feel every note, even if you are not into jazz. I don't know I just had to get it off my chest. This guy has opened the gates of jazz for people like me.

Vishi Kant Well, that's why you have to transcribe solos, that way you'll understand what the masters were doing so you can absorb it to your playing ;)

In jazz u are free to use numerous scales and ideas but u have to learn to apply them in a way that all notes marry all chords smoothly

he dont even play a single wrong note.
now thats music just the look on his face as he strums that awesome guitar makes you think about why you love jazz in the first place XD
Wow, totally relaxing, love this guy!
STUNNING!It makes me want to stop biting my nails and play guitar again!
Really beautiful to watch, but only after listening with your eyes closed the first few times.
And with a single video, a prog metal fan also became a jazz fan...
Wow this guy is amazing, such a sweet tone and a great improviser
Now this is how the guitar should be played. This how you play guitar! If you know how to play like this. You pretty much can play anything you want.
Masterful performance by one of the greats.
the depth of is ,is incredible.
You're talking about a guitar master here... BRAVO! ☆☆☆☆☆
this is the song you want to listen when you fall in love.
Glorious . Thank you Mr. Malone.
The best fingerstyle video i’ve ever seen.
how is he not more well known?!?! he is like a modern day lenny breau.
I almost can think of the title but it keeps escaping me. I know I have heard it many times. Super job.

Cuerdas para el alma......felicitaciones
Same here. I started checking out jazz guitar this past weekend. And I must say, it is just the sort of change I needed. I got tired of playing metal and open chord acoustic stuff.

absolutely beautiful guitar. I love that look on his face at the beginning. I just see a Meme of him thinking "what the fuck lady, calm down".
damn... he good!!
Wow...that was wonderfull...I don't really listen to jazz alot, but I can already understand how jazz musicians give everything on stage...It's been quite a time that I was with music, but after listening to this melody, it feels different...like I got high or something xD.

***** no i love jazz, its just a lot of guitarist quit trying to play jazz before they get anywhere with it. it is a very unique and hard genre of music to master.

I find those videos pointless. The only way to approach Jazz is by being shit hot on your theory, so spotting chords and knowing which modes and arpeggios relate to it and most importantly feeling it. Many don't have the feel. I usually find videos like this by checking out the greats first. Such as Pat Martino, Joe Pass and Wes. You have to be really particular in your search.
