    So because some people he disagrees with still have a platform, therefore no speech is being stifled? What kind of pathetic logic is that? Look what's happened to Tucker Carlson ffs. There are only a handful of people he can even point to who say such "outrageous" things as a man cannot become a woman lol, that should maybe tell you something. Everyone know what fucking woke means. It's politically correct on steroids, it's overly sensitive, hypocritical virtue signalling nonsense. Of course it's infested comedy. His examples of people saying whatever they want are those who already have a huge fanbase and can't be 'cancelled'. They all receive massive backlash and calls for them to be fired, have their shows taken down etc. but they are too powerful. If an up and coming comedian made a joke that the twitter mob took offence to that same backlash would be enough to derail their career.

  • @TrophyGuide101

    @@ofmiceandben it's only because these people are 'woke' that they find jokes immoral. Jokes can come from dark places and gallows humour/shock humour is not for everyone. If it's not for you don't listen, that would be the end of it, but 'woke' (I hate the word myself but let's go with it) people aren't happy with that. They hate the fact that others want to hear these jokes and that awakens their little authoritarian side so they try to go about dictating who other people can listen to and just being moral busy bodies.

    He's out of touch. I'm working class and I can guarantee that freedom of speech for me doesn't mean a desire to use derogatory racial epithets or misogynistic terms. I still find him funny though, I just don't agree with everything he says....

  • @jamesthecat

    @jamesthecat

    Absolutely. I can guarantee that his younger self would have wanted nothing to do with the kind of behaviour incentivized in audiences now - crudely suspicious, jumping to conclusions for the glory of the 'gotcha', stereotyping (but it's only white guys (for now), so that's ok), recording, reporting, vilifying and ostracizing, even punishing those who simply remain civil towards a figure of hate (the so - called secondary sanction). It's so nakedly about being able to personally wield a ridiculous amount of power, unchecked (in the current stage of social media, anyway), rather than the social justice it's cloaked in. Again, comedians should be recoiling from *anyone* on a power trip, instinctively. When the Direct Messages emerge, their true colours are *really* shown. Appalling people.

    Working in the ad game is great fun but it doesn’t compare to being on a stage and doing your thing (I’m not a comic I’m in music) if it goes tits up come work with me as I have a small full service agency as I like being a CD as well as other things.

    If I was at a comedy gig and R K came on, I'd be really disappointed. He's never said anything I find funny. And now I know he worked in advertising and marketing I know why. I agree with Bill Hicks about people who do that. Look him up. He was such a funny guy

  • @JB-qf5ep

    I mean, it is more about the intention behind people's words. As time goes on, people become more aware of the history of the consequences of attitudes. If you are part of a minority community and somebody says something that verbally echoes the very real physical oppression of the past, it reminds them that if they aren't vigilant in opposing it while their power is at its highest in history, they are in danger of allowing those oppressive practices to slowly creep back in. So people aren't going to want to be in compliance with that slow march back to openly oppressive policies/actions. If someone says something regressive and offensive, it reminds them that were laws and public opinion still followed that offensive line, they would not be safe in the presence of the offensive person. Pride and allyship have been hard fought for - getting offended is just the internal low-level version of mass protesting oppressive practices and attitudes.

    @@JB-qf5ep policing the intent behind people's words requires an awful lot of psychic powers that as far as I'm aware, the human race is yet to evolve.
