The line "KING KONG AINT GOT SH*T ON ME" won it for Denzel.

He literally lived the life of John Nash throughout the movie. That can't be called acting. It was pure mastery of the art.

Yes. Russell had completely disappeared by the end of the film and only the character of Professor Nash remained.

What a gorgeous looking man Russell Crow is, he is in his prime here.

(A Beautiful Mind) is a masterpiece.

His speeches are simply at best, a true down to earth yet profound poet. An admirable speaker from the heart. Thanks Russell, you don’t need a trophy to shine, you are the one that shines.

Russel Crowe was totally robbed for the Oscar. Outstanding work. Washington was great but nothing like Crowe that year

Totally agree. Denzel is great and all in training day but nowhere as good Russell in A Beautiful Mind. There is such depth and class in his performance. Totally robbed of the oscar.

It was said he was reading poetry for Richard Harris who was ill at the time but because it was taking so long..The producer ordered the editor to immediately cut it..Russell Crowe immediately confronted the BAFTA producer and slammed him against the wall. That was where South Park got the editor scene from.

While Crowe definitely gave a superior performance to Denzel, I don't think Denzel's Oscar was undeserved. Dude got snubbed two times plus he was pretty convincing as a thug, even though not as good as Crowe.

I've NEVER taken the Oscars seriously after Russell Crowe was robbed of his 2002 Oscar. It proves the Academy cares more about its politics than the performance of their art. Charlatan's, the lot of them...

You have to be an epic level moron if you think Denzel is overrated. He is one of the absolute greatest ever. Dude would have been already a three times Oscar winner if they awarded him fair and square for Malcolm X and Hurricane in 90s with his already one Oscar win for Glory in 1989. He should have won over both Pacino and Spacey. They snubbed him two times before for very very spectacular performances, so they awarded him over Crowe as a "sorry''.
