That's when I realised this one interview is about Russel trying to impress Craig, like a son would his father. They seem to have a good affection for each other at the end of the first interview which really shows up in the second. Craig is really emotionally intelligent and you can tell he reads people easily and makes them feel comfortable.

I think Craig Ferguson's talent is to allow other people to shine. Russell Brand is able to not be overpowering here and it actually plays well for him. He has a child like glee That doesn't come off as disingenuous. Ferguson does a really good job of allowing him to play that up yet still keeping a rein on and controlling the interview. Russell Brand is a heck of a challenge for any host yet Craig Ferguson seems genuinely happy to have him on. A great interview to be sure! Well done to both of them!

I worked in UK for a few years. The intensity of the social dialogue - you have to keep up - was initally disconbobulating and pretty impolite but, when you take up the challenge and survive, you become the closest of friends. It can get quite hysterical. It helps to have a broad general knowledge - jokes about the 17th century for example - and a flexible accent , as the English initially catagorise you as soon as you speak.
