@@leslie7872 On the contrary. Germans usually have severe phonetic problems imitating Austrian accents. It's rather astonishing how well Brühl did his job.

OMG I wish he got more for this part- he made me cry my eyes out when I saw this movie!

Wow! I am surprised that his "normal English" sounds a lot different than in the movie! He is really good actor when he can switch like this between accents and still concentrate on the role.

there are many great performances that do not get nominated for an Oscar and Daniels performance in Rush was one of them. He totally nailed it playing Nikki in this film. His best moments where the aftermath of the crash scene, he is so vulnerable, determined, and brave in those scenes. I also love the race scene where he becomes a hero to the crowd with his perseverance and strength, coming in fourth place in spite of his severe burns and hardly being able to see because of the pain. Nikki is one of the great living heroes in our world and he is an example of how a person can do anything, even in the midst of insurmountable odds! Rush was a great film overall, I was watching it last night and it is the most exciting and realistic racing films I have ever seen! Way better than days of thunder, which was too much hollywood glamour.

I love how the German actors don't do Hollywood. They stay home and let the real movies come to them. Which is why there are so many Daniel Brühl movies that I can't get in USA. Guess I'll have to move to Europe.

Thats a result of Hollywood going downhill rather than Europe especially Germany having any high quality stars, many are great but most are only great in comparison to modern Hollywood actors.

The way he switched to Lauda's voice is ahhhhhh xD

Academy awards are a joke nowadays.

I think this interview's really interesting. Daniel Bruhl doesn't seem really at ease when talking about his work on this film. He seems nervous. Which is interesting since his acting in Rush is flawless, sincerely.

Daniel deserves an Oscar for this! From Goodbye Lenin! to Inglourious Basterds to this - wow what a trajectory!

I've just seen the movie and I can tell you that you did a wonderful job Daniel. I cried at the end and as far as I can remember 1976 F1 season the physical resemblance between you and Niki is more than remarkable.Both of you actors really deserve an oscar.

He is the only German I know who got an Austrian accent right.

Yeah, it's definitely not easy. The accents and German language are not the same between the two countries. It is even more difficult to get the accents right while speaking English too

This was worth oscar nomination definitely… Daniel played this part brilliantly.

'Just bring hand luggage in case we don't like each other' LOL Sometimes I can appreciate when people prioritize sincerity over just sugar coated B.S. just to make me feel good. I don't know much about the real Niki Lauda but regardless, the character Daniel played in the movie was awesome. My favorite movie of 2013.

Best bit of casting ever. He's amazing in this part.

I love Daniel almost as much as the real niki! Both of their accents are...beautiful. I also love how much time they spent together, so much so that Daniel can Swich from his to niki's accent.

This guy deserves an oscar for this role. He played it so damn well.

Only watched the movie yesterday again. I'm not much of a motorsportsfan but this movie is really amazing. Brühl plays Lauda so perfect. He's one of those actors who'll give everything to make the movie great. Just like Christoph Waltz or Matthew Mcconaughrey

saw that movie. He was perfect for the part.

he did such a great job. its kind of funny that the characters they played, in james hunt and niki lauda, were so different, opposites almost, yet they have this close battle and as daniel says, they somewhat become friends. the same goes for the actors themselves, chris being thor and all that, and daniel doing.... not thor (i dont know what else hes been in ^_^) they are almost opposites as actors, and yet they get along, and have good chemistry on screen, which is always great to see.

Daniel Bruhl is an underrated actor. he's very likeable as Bruhl in this interview but easily transforms into an AH when playing Lauda

Amazing EVERYTHING. Perfect characterization, great music, astounding story and images... Adored it, and I know nothing of sports car. You don't need to, the give you just enough context to enjoy this movie to the fullest.

It would be cool to see him earn the oscar, but oscars mean politics and there is always some performance that are much more promoted than others. Never forget that nearly all the oscar movies premiere between december and march. Anyway, fingers crossed!

Hab den Film gestern gesehen: Hervorragende Arbeit, besonders von Daniel Brühl. Olivia Wilde und A.M. Lara wirken zwar eher unterfordert, alles in allem aber absolut sehenswert, auch für sonst weniger Formel 1- Begeisterte. I was watching the movie yesterday in cinema: Excellent work by everyone, especially Daniel Brühl. Ok, the girls Olivia Wilde and A.M. Lara seemed sort of unchallenged to me, but all in all definitely worth watching, even for the "less fanatical formula 1- supporter"!
