Yeah, most of them I loved early one but once they did it full-time, for me it became less personal and more traditional mainstream media. I fell in love with KZread for it's amateur / relatable content. I can relate to some talking head bitching about their job, I can't relate to "I'm getting paid to travel across the country on a brand new 50+,000 bike, buy these products, and join my patreon, and channel memberships" It makes me feel like the televangelist. No, I'm not implying they are all millionairs living the easy live; it's just the best way I know to describe the feeling I get.

@@N3PRO-Dave I don't think any of them are millionaires, but I do think they live beyond their means. The sponsorships help with toys (non motorcycle related). The only solace I have is that come tax time because the creators had others foot the bills on products they had a large profit with no expenses. Hopefully the tax man reminds them that they need to pay their fair share.

Nice Video! It is interesting, since my last Atlas 4.0 video I kind of just put the helmet on the shelf and forgot about them. No constant marketing coming across my feeds and I didn't go out of my way to review their track or street versions. Thanks for the update on your experience, that was quite the journey! The fact they were begging you to release statements they wrote for you to help their sales speaks volumes of the pickle they put themselves in.

I was getting back into riding, I never wore gear back in 2014 (I was a typical Harley guy) but since moving to ATL, I cared a lot more about my safety, the drivers suck. I saw Ruroc as a Full Face, thought about it, but looked up review videos and found you. I bought the Sedici instead, that shit wasn't the best, but it did it's job for a couple years. @Sid_Shenanigans

@MrRight... Overall, I think I would give the helmet a 5 out of 10. It looks good, and the quality seems OK. I would prefer more padding or substance in the headliner. It's minimal, but the helmet is still comfortable. I have 3 main complaints with it. First, wind is a serious issue. It gets into the ear wells and swirls around inside the helmet A LOT. I have never had a helmet with this issue, and it's really annoying. Second, the sizing is wonky. The helmet ended up being rather loose after breaking in. I have always worn a L/60...but because 60 was at the top of the M range, they recommended L/XL. But the fact is they don't offer different size cheekpads like other companies to help you dial in your size. Last, the Shockwave system is disappointing. It doesn't have much power and is not loud enough at max volume. This is even more of a problem with the wind noise issue with the helmet. Overall, I would have expected a better helmet at that price point. I prefer my other helmets, that were over $250 cheaper.

I will say it was delayed like a couple months because they had issues with liner company or something like that (might be able to find the emails if I actually look) and then eventually got something that they settled something and got the helmet. Pads were first things I noticed that were trash. Fast forward a couple months a communication came out about them working on new ones from the feedback and when they did make them you had to buy them. I think they gave some very little discount price but I was already over the helmet and shopping for a new one and felt like this was a lesson learned buying sight unseen online. Ruroc dug their own grave. There is a reason why top end helmets aren't advertising like their life depends on it. Because they prefer quality and safety and put their money where their mouth is. Ruroc used biased KZreadrs to push their bs and spent more money on advertising when they should have saved that cash lowered the price on the helmets and continued to build. Honestly with the 4.0 being out for a while now I feel that the best way forward, for someone still knterested in a Ruroc helmet would be to wait fornthe 5.0 and its reviews to come out. Based on the shift inside Ruroc and how tech preference in the motorcycle scene has changed, i will be hoping for a better overall helmet and a change from their shockwave (which they keep trying to offload in their sales for the last year) to an integrated cardo unit. I can also see them try to implement some other features like those seen more on the 509 helmet, just to keep up with the "innovation" coming out.

The interior of my Ruroc feels more comfortable, the field of vision is rockstar, and the Shockwave with ear plugs is perfect for sound if that’s a thing. 🤣 I use a Bluetooth bar mount transmitter to control my music and phone that works well with the Shockwave. Sizing was on point as I’m a large (58cm) and I grabbed a M/L size. What I don’t care for is the fidlock. That’s a pain in the ass to hook up with gloves on but a minor gripe for me.

I can't say much to anything else going on, but I have bought two 4.0s, the ultramarine blue and one with the captain america graphic. The first one I love without a doubt, no isssues. The shockwave worked great and I love the fidlock. the second one looked like the inner foam was glued slightly off, but I still use it now with no issues. The pads were fine. The fit was perfect. Shipping since they got distro in the US was on point. I kept seeing though everyone and their mom, most of whom have never seen one of these helmets in person, tell me the entire line and company were trash. Now I am a sample size of 2, but I've never had a really big issue with either. The company for sure has issues and like the distro one and need to try and make a premium helmet before a regular street level one, but I think brand ambassadors claiming they've been fired when its not really a job is kinda weird. Chase hasn't seemed to have a major issue with them and neither has blockhead so I remain cautiously okay with them as far as the 4.0 is concerned. Seriously having some rando in a forum wearing a mushroom telling me my helmet is unsafe is some level of special...not gonna lie. Life the video though, good info.

For some reason I can see very well when riding my road glide. *QC on some shit sucks I had two color changing visors (the first wouldn’t open and close right) and after a few months the included BT system crapped out Sent email and got a reply for where I can buy replacement parts

I considered one for quite a while. I could never find anything about the quality of the helmet. It was all cool graphics and marketing hype. Nobody truly reviewed the helmet until you started cutting them in half. Before I saw your video, I decided it was likely all hype and I couldn't try one on before buying so I went with the tried and true Shoei and I'm so glad I did. I've seen a few video's post, all the hype, about RR treated youtubers that didn't play the game.

I been with you a long time and this has been what I had seen in corporate America for years. Marketing can make or break a company. If they care only about the bottom line then it will be just a matter of time. If the change is swift enough they may survive with new people and truth based sales. They need to find there niche. Is it going to be less expensive modern looking ECE rated and Dot rated helmets. Would that fit a category? I truly feel bad that you got involved with this company and they really did you wrong.

It is very difficult, but I will not buy a helmet without trying the one that I intend to buy on. I drove for 5 hours in to be able to try an Arai on and the size that is thought would fit was too too tight and I had to size up. It turns out that I have an extra large, long oval head and very few models fit my head. The fact that they were only available by mail order was a no go for me. After the first few models came out so quickly, I wouldn’t have known when they would settle down to a four or five year cycle. I’m not a rich man and can’t throw helmets out every year.

The pads are high quality on par with Shoei at a lower price point and there is plenty of ventilation when needed. I too discovered ruroc through Blockhead. They chose correctly because I gathered he was a content creator. So he did an amazing job advertising them. I purchased a 2.0 Alas as my first and last ruroc helmet. It was a poor experience. Shipping to about 6-8 weeks (I pre ordered too), the first helmet brought a busted sound system, and their customer service was horrible. Long story short, they refused any returns/ refund, it took an additional month to get to me, and when it finally arrived it was only slightly better (poor sound overall). They overhyped the helmets incredibly and I swore to myself that I'd never purchase anything from then again. I've kept my word.

Helmets are challenging for me. I have a big head. Wish i had the brains to fill the cranium. My last 2 helmets have been 3xl. (Scorpion exo at950, Simpson Mod Bandit) The scorpion was still a little too small. I was tempted to try a Rurok during the 2.0 phase but the hype scared me away. I live in a rural area where helmets are rarely avaliable to try on. I think helmets are the biggest grey area in motorcycling. Mandatory helmet laws force riders into the helmet market and the manufactures know they have a captive market. I think this is why you see so many shitty helmets on the market. I'm not one to follow the company cultures of each brand I purchase from but Rurok made it a front and center with marketing. There are too many companies who have good products and no bs shenanigans I would rather purchase from.

Nope She took it down for the Ruroc 4.0 setup video. Within 10 months she had made the switch to a Shoei Modular. She doesnt mention names but she said the partnership with a UK based helmet maker ended. No negativity no shade thrown so Im not sure if the partnership was not renewed due to lack of interest from Ruroc or if Jess wanted to walk away from the dumpster fire. I feel like if her views are down we might get a video from her throwing shade but I feel like Jess was the person Jake the Garden Snake was talking about when it came to signing on the dotted line before she got the helmet.

I need to watch more reviews but they still seem like a decent product if we get the normal Carbon fibre ones, but honestly that's shitty behaviour. Like everyone uses creators reviews and public reviews, but when you explicitly ask not to be attached in anyway and they do it, that is fucked up. Even with the pinlock it fogs too. The shockwave is HORRIBLE and tinny, not to mention inconvenient at the back of the helmet and it doesnt pair to any other bluetooth devices other than your phone. When people called me they said I sounded like a robot and I couldn't reliably get it working right. Long-term the fit and finish of the helmet was not stellar. Even your sub-$300 helmets, HELL, just about ANY helmet - full-face, modular, even 3/4 helmets - have a damn sunvisor. This is an accessory that is a deal-breaker. MANY riders, especially long-distance riders, REALLY enjoy having the inside sunvisor as an extra feature. @@breandanwheeler5267 Ruroc helmets aren't Snell-rated, right? They're 'only' DOT and ECE-rated. But that is interesting too (as a side note). I wasn't aware of that about Snell

No they’re not Snell. Only a handful of top end helmets are 22.06 and Snell certified

How about a review on the bike about how the helmet actually performs? That's what people really care about.

Neither the title, thumbnail, nor description would lead anyone to believe this was a riding impressions or review video. Maybe searching for the video you ARE looking for would be a better use of time than leaving a negative comment on a video you weren’t looking for?

Wasn’t trying to be negative, gave you a thumbs up for your content. Was hoping since you went to the trouble of getting the helmet, you might have reviewed it. Yes, Ill look elsewhere for reviews.

The hype and the largely uncritical sponsored content creators reviews for the 3.0 did a lot of damage when the helmets that were shipped to customers appeared to be different in quality from what was promised. The company dropping some of these creators was not surprising as their reviews clearly weren’t seen as credible as the shit storm of criticism of the 3.0 hit. I no longer subscribe to a few of these people ,Blockhead being one who I feel I cannot trust to give a honest review. You have tried to keep your distance from Ruroc and your review of the 4.0 was honest and has been repeated by others. The sad thing is I want Ruroc to succeed as the 4.0 is the helmet that the 3.0 promised to be I just hope the whole saga hasn’t fatally damaged the company.

@@indianbill3123 The problem was there was so much of this sponsored content in the UK I didn’t see any of the printed press do a review. Some of the people I felt didn’t have the experience and anyone taking chaseon2wheels seriously, seriously needs help but Blockhead has experience and appears to have doubled down with the brand . Dandanthefireman and gears and gadgets both did constructive reviews of the 3.0 and G&G’s review of the 4.0 was very fair the problem is that Ruroc has become a toxic brand . I do hope though that Ruroc can survive what has happened as the 4.0 looks a good product and they learn from their mistakes . As to the creators possibly some will be a bit more cautious over accepting either free goods or being paid to promote without being able to say what they want.

Listen. Idc what any of you KZreadr people say. Ruroc has THE coolest helmets on the market I got the darth vader carbon 4.0 and it fits perfectly and is EXACTLY what I wanted. By a long shot ruroc has phenomenal helmet design and look. I’m going to keep hyping them up and I’ve already got 4 of my friends to buy them!

I wouldn’t ask you not to promote it if you are that passionate (independent of sponsorship) about the product. My opinion isn’t better than yours but I can assure you my experience and insight is different than yours.

Ruroc fucked up with the 3.0, i skipped it due to them taking launch orders then not shipping for months. The cheek pad nonsense kept me from ever getting it. I did get the 4.0 and it is way better then my 2.0 and on par with my Shoei. I liked it so much i bought one for my wife. I just received the EOX and they have made some improvments feom the 4.0 however sizing changed which is annoying. Overall the quality is very good. I hate D rings personally so the fidlock is a feature i 100% want

Unless their product is the best of the best for the price point, Why would I want to entertain anything related to a company that just treats people like shit? There are other helmets out there that work just fine. Unless you are looking for something VERY specific that no one else provides, Ruroc would never be my first choice. I dislike they way they run their business (when the mix other people up in to for nothing but their brand to be plastered everywhere like they're desperate) that unless they make something so incredible that no one else can make and is the best thing ever, I don't think I will buy from them. I refuse to give money to companies that act like this. I'm a chill dude. If your shit is obnoxiously over the top like this, I'll spend my money with a company that just makes and moves on without the stupid shit in between. It's a morals thing. I hate assholes that do shit that CAN or do harm others for no reason.

And you WANT Ruroc to succeed because competition breeds innovation. If they can take parts/tech from a $1k helmet and offer it at $450, that makes the other companies charge less or do more. Why they tried to reinvent the wheel instead of building on an already established platform but in their own design is what boggles me. 0 reason they couldn’t have shipped the 4 street as their first iteration. Nothing in it is ground breaking. In terms of why they pushed the 3 when they knew it was shit? If their CFO/financial team says “well we can ship these 100 lids out knocking its trash BUT we’re ready to offer refunds/credit.” and 30 of the 100 purchasers say refund me and they can convince 15 of them to take return credit for the 4.0, they lose nothing because we know the 3.0 didn’t come in at 90% cost for production and the 4.0 is going to cost them the same or less to make. So 15 get total refunds, 15 get credit to the 4.0 and are happy and they only made 50% profit instead of the 90% profit from the remaining 70. Now their accountants get to work numbers and their losses on the “credit” returns, become a tax write off. and they’re still in business. OR they never send anyone anything and return all the money and lose their investors and go bankrupt. Clear choice. If ford knows a voluntary recall is going to cost them $1B but a class action costs them $200m….they’re not gonna do the recall.
