Join the Running Water for Living Water team on November 12, 2023, for the 8th annual Harrisburg YMCA Marathon in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This dedicated group is running to raise money to build clean water wells in impoverished communities in India and Uganda.
The Running Water for Living Water team is a ministry of Global Partners for Peace and Development, an organization that has provided over 200 wells and brought clean water access to many people worldwide. This year the team hopes to raise $100,000 to fund new wells in India and Uganda.
Hundreds will gather in downtown Harrisburg for the 26.2-mile race. Elite runners striving for new PRs and back-of-the-pack joggers looking to check off a bucket list goal will wind through Pennsylvania's capital city. The event brings together the running community while raising awareness about the global water crisis.
Over 785 million people lack access to clean drinking water. Diseases from contaminated water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. The construction of simple hand pump wells provides communities with access to safe, sustainable sources of groundwater for drinking, cooking, hygiene, and agriculture.
