Running One of Canada’s Toughest Races - QUEBEC MEGA TRAIL 100
Спорт
New for 2021, the 100 mile course has over 6,500 metres of elevation gain, taking runners from the banks of the St. Lawrence River to the top of Mont-Saint-Anne through beautiful boreal forests and technical single track trails. While Quebec might be known for its extremely cold temperatures in the winter, in the summer runners could expect heat and humidity. My girlfriend Audrée and I couldn't pass up the chance to run what would prove to be one of the most challenging races in Canada.

Have to say it’s refreshing to watch a running documentary that isn’t full of overly dramatic “inspiring” “blessed” music and framing. You do a great job of letting the footage speak for itself and instill a balanced set of emotions.

Wow what an incredible effort from Audree. Can we take a second to acknowledge she run her first 100miler! Incredible, upbeat all the way. She should be really proud

How have I only just found this channel. The footage and the commentary from you both during the race was spot on. Not over the top but just describing what you’re doing, how you’re feeling and reacting to the situation. All done with a smile. Top quality stuff subscribed.
You have a rare gift when it comes to telling long form stories.

Incredible film!!! Huge congrats for Audree for not only her first 100 miler, first win but also for shooting so much content on the way :) It's so inspiring to see you two pull this one off together with the support of Audree's family. Thanks for the Quebec and history topping. To me that's what makes your films unique - it's not just the running, but the nature, the places and the people. When I saw you walk up these stairs I wondered how was it climbing down ;) Thanks for taking us to that amazing place!

Thanks so much! I've been trying to incorporate more of the backstory of an area into my films. Glad to hear you enjoy it.
120k in "The Energy Level might have dropped". Yeah. Mine to zero. 100km before that point. What a run and thanks for the wonderful video :-)
This is some top notch filming. Those drone shots of the river crossing were incredible. No clue how you do all that and run 100 miles. Congrats to both of you on epic performances
I've got only smile on my face at the end of this film. Merci beaucoup!
People who haven't lived in humid climes really underestimate the effect that high humidity can have. I have lived in both Phoenix AZ and Cleveland, Ohio, and I'll take Phoenix at 100 degrees F over Cleveland at 80 F when it is humid. As you said, it really robs your body of the ability to cool itself.

I’m thankful that I got into running when I lived in Hawaii, now everywhere else feels easy, well except florida lol
Im lovin it , the last few weeks ive been catching these when i could and loving the running ,the scenery ,the content is spot on for me and you make a great narrator also ,keep running and keep these coming ,thank you ❤
Being from Quebec, your filming, editing and overall appreciation for the province made me really happy and proud. Great film making! And the historic part at the end was really awesome😁
I love Audree's commentary about her emotions throughout the race. You can anything physically if you have the right mindset. Her commentaries were real and honest. Bravo Audree! ❤
Just having come to find your channel, I really appreciate your no drama commentary of your races (no click bate or extremes). You stay very up beat and positive even when talking through struggles. You seem to be very respectful of other participants, volunteers and fans - no matter how tired you might be. Thank you for a very refreshing channel! That will keep me coming back for more, I really like to see what you use, products and tips along your races. Nothing to compare, it's just coming from someone, at 58 - getting out hiking and trying to increase my distance a little at a time.
Thank you KZread algorithm for bringing me these amazing running docs! Fantastic and well edited video
french, my native language that I dont speak anymore ... feel like I'm forgetting it a bit ... and dont even think I would know what to say to another runner in french in a race ... chapeau bas Monsieur Pelletier ! tres impressionant
Wow! Also at 59:50 the sportsmanship. Just astounding how much this is like a community wishing eachother the best. The Music and the Video. Just Wow, i nearly cried. It inspired me as well! I am 18 running Half Marathon at the moment. The beauty of the nature, the endurance of the body, the fight with and against yourself. It showed me what is possible(theoreticly of course).
Totally awesome: the film, two North Van runners and the whole Quebec connection for the Pelletiers and LaFrenières! Great job in all respects - merci beaucoup!
This just happened to pop up on my timeline. How didn’t I know about this race? This was amazing to watch!!!
Deadset the best race report/docco I've watched on any platform! Incredible insight into what it must have been like for you 2. Cracking stuff!
Jeff, thank you for the amazing videos. I started running a couple months ago due to circumstances in my life that required me to gain mental clarity. These videos are not just inspiration but they are full of life, I’m tearing up as I write this watching your guys’ journey, knowing next year I will tackle my first 100 miler. These videos give me the vision of myself finishing and wanting to gain that feeling. So thank you..

Yes I agree, what a phenomenonal effort, both the race and the film. Makes me so proud to be a Quebecer!
Hey Jeff. What a wonderful film. You spoilt us with this long film. Loved the footage and storytelling particular with your ancestors history. Huge congratulations to you and Audree with the completion of this race but also the creation of this beautiful piece of content! Much love from London, UK.

Damn!!! What a film! I don't even know where to start... oh wait, I do: HOLY CR*P, Audrée!! I can't believe you won your first 100-miler! That is so freaking awesome! Congrats, to you as well, Jeff! 8th place is pretty damn good! Ok, that's enough exclamation marks. Haha... That race looked really cool. Very pretty, great landscapes. And then you finish the film with a little history lesson on the Pelletiers and Lafrenières? I totally loved it. I had no idea actually, how beautiful Quebec is. I may have to put that on my travel to-do list. :) Either way... Fantastic film, Jeff! I always get excited when you put one out! :)
That was a great movie indeed. It made me feel I was there on the trails with you & in Quebéc, too - congratulatoins to Audrée and many thanks Jeff for this awesome film!
I love Mega Trail, the only place eating a Snickers as a breakfast is not only tolerated, but recommended. Congrats to the both of You. Félicitations pour votre classement, les efforts ont été récompensés !

Thanks! It really is a beautiful region.
I love everything about this documentary. The editing is perfect -- not one boring moment and I really feel I have a good grasp on the terrain -- except I suspect that for the average runner, it would be 100x more difficult. I guess it is largely hinted at when we learn that only about half of participants finished the race. But Jeff and Audree run with such grace. Also (and I'm resisting using ALL CAPS), the drone shots are incredible!!! I'm such a fan!
Great film (as always), thank you! Congratulations to you both and wow, Audrée, incredibly well done to place 1st on your first 100 miler (and whilst doing some filming as well)! As others have said, it was also nice to see some context of Quebec and hear a bit more about both your families :-)

I live in Montreal & watching this trail run put a smile on my face. What an adventure and beautiful views. Trail season is on!
Another fabulous film Jeff! Congrats to both of you on your races! I love how you included historical and cultural aspects into a running film. Quote of the film goes to Audree - after 20 hours and 104 km of running, "This climb is very gnarly, maybe I'm just tired." Oh and poutine is everywhere these days but somehow always tastes better in Quebec.

Awesome film, Jeff (and Audrée). Very captivating and inspiring. Looking forward to your next one. I liked that you talked about things like going to the bathroom and chafing in the butt crack. These may not be the sexiest topics, but certainly important to the runner. Learning what a runner is going through physically and mentally during such a race is a big part of what makes such documentaries so interesting to me.

Thanks Rolf, that was my thinking as well. Lots of details that we can take for granted that newer runners could learn from.
Love that Québecois accent! Nice mix of run + heritage tracing!

Hi sir! Thank you for sharing, You inspired me not only to be a better runner but also to better person. Bless you
Just a stellar race film, not much I can say that hasn't been said in other comments. Absolutely love the cross-cutting between you two on your own personal journeys during the day, so cool to watch the two simultaneous perspectives that inevitably intersect.

A beautiful view of a beautiful region - glad to have found this video! Thanks Jeff and Congratulations to you both on a great race.
Thank you for this great film Jeff! It's awesome to see the inside of QMT by two exceptional trail runners. So glad that you put a part on Quebec City which is a must to visit when coming at QMT.
As someone whose family traces back to the very first 50 families to settle Quebec and who spoke only French until I was 8 years old, this film evoked a lot of childhood memories. My mother grew up on a farm near Riviere du Loup and we visited there a couple of times when I was a child. Good memories. Great video too. I've also been a runner all of my life and still get in 1300-1500 miles a year. I just can't get enough of these videos and this was one of the best. Good work!
Wow - more compelling viewing from you amazing pair! Congratulations on not only completing but for your incredible placements! We also loved the city and genealogy tour. It was also interesting to note your very different mindsets during the race, or at least as we perceived them. Jeff - you seem quite the analytical thinker, articulating with great precision about each element - nutrition intake etc. and Audrée, we also loved your bouyant spirit as you seemingly floated through the course, your commentary of a more emotional style. Together you are wonderfully complimentary! Keep up the good work and know that your huge efforts in producing these are creating inspirational waves everywhere, even here in Sydney, Oz! Cheers and thank you - Dave and family
First time here and I subscribed! This format really works for me. Having two different runners makes a huge difference to me because I can witness the same situations from entirely different viewpoints. This area of Canada is also stunning. Great race. Great location.
Jeff and Audree....this is a great video. Thank you so much for posting. The video is very informative.
Greetings from Europe ! First, huge congratulations to both of you for the QMT (and the 1st place!!!), great crewing as well. :) This video particularly struck home for I lived many years in QC and have regularly returned to visit. Your video certainly awakened fond memories from numerous hikes and trail runs in the area from Baie-Saint-Paul all the way to Mont-Sainte-Anne, not to mention QC, l'île d'Orléans, les chutes Montmorency... Beautiful video, loved the way you edited it. I felt for you on some of the more technical and tortuous sections of the trails, especially in those humid conditions! And in the Petit Champlain stairs at the end! Looking forward to run the QMT one day in this beautiful part of the world. Thanks for sharing and all the best to both of you for what's next. Happy trails!!!
Perfect! One of the best ultra trail videos I've watched. Pre-race tips on food and gear; different points of view of the race you two got; soundtrack; images edition; organization of the race crew. Congratulations!
Merci de m'avoir permis de revivre cette incroyable aventure d'une autre façon! Félicitations pour vos performances époustouflantes et surtout pour votre attitude rafraîchissante et inspirante!

Long time runner here but I am just now diving into world of endurance running at the ripe old age of 38. I am also new your channel. This is your first video I’ve watched. Enjoyed the beautiful cinematography and really appreciated y’all’s positive and cheerful attitudes. I enjoy watching these kinds of videos with 3 oldest children (10, 8, 6) to help inspire and encourage them to be active, embrace challenges and appreciate nature, but there are so few we can watch together because most have lots of un-bleeped adult language. Thankful my whole family could enjoy this together. Will be subscribing! I am a native Texan but lived in Alberta for 4 years as a teenager. I never was able to visit Quebec but would love to travel to this beautiful province with my family. I have always been intimidated that not knowing French would not be received well, but I was so encouraged to see all the friendly race volunteers. Maybe I can run this race someday!

Welcome to the channel Erin! Lots more content like this on the way. I love that you’re watching it with your kids too!
Jeff, you said that you weren’t happy with your time, but to me 28 hours was remarkable! It took me 12 hours to cover 66km of my 80km race before I dropped out with stomach issues. That course was so technical and had so much climbing, you should be very proud of your result.

Thanks Drew. I think I just finished feeling like I had so much left in my legs. Sorry to hear about your stomach issues! I puked shortly after finishing actually. I’ve never done that before!
Currently living in BC, but went to school in Ottawa and spent a ton of time in the Quebec woods while there. This is not only an inspiration for me to get outside and run, but also a visual treat featuring an ecosystem I miss despite appreciating the unspeakable beauty around me on Vancouver Island. You just gave me a perfect Sunday morning viewing experience. :)

Ohh wow, a friend talked about your content to me and I'm discovering slowly all of it... This video is the first one I've watched, for two reasons, first I was running behind you in 2021, I was running my first ultra, the 110k parcour and also I'm doing the 100 miles this year. I can't tell you how grateful I am. Being with you on your journey, I've traveled my own ultra that I did last year and brought back many teary eyes eheheh. Thank you for putting togheter awsome documentary, they are so enjoyable!! Also It does inspire me to gather some content along my own path because I'm lacking in this area and my memory is fine but having more seems a wise idea at this time! Thank you again Jeff and have fun on the trails!!
