omg I got hungry! These are the BEST tasting! I love the Koffee one, Canaberry and the oatmeal. I like that they aren't artificial at all. Thanks Sage

Hi Sage. Really love the scenery on the green screen. Would be really great if you could show a different pic each time of your favorite running spots and give a brief discription.

Canaberry reminded me of fruit roll ups, I really liked it. I got the sampler pack last year and really everything but the electroride which was fine just not amazing like the other stuff.

Hi sage, I've recently started using spring and was hoping you can advise more about your use of the gels. For example, if one is doing a track (obv not on a track at the moment) or hill workout in the morning what are combinations you would use to replace a breakfast for ~90 minutes of total running

I used Spring Energy Hill Aid on my last 17 mile run. It was delicious and I felt it provided nice long lasting energy. I just wish it was easier to get smaller sample orders to try out the other flavors. I’m too far away from any place that sells Spring, and it’s hard for me to invest in a large bunch of pouches without trying it out first. Great brand. I love their approach. Thanks for reviewing the products.

I want to love Speednut and Long Haul, but they taste so meh to me. But Canaberry, Hill Aid, Power Rush, and Electroride are 👍👍👍 So thankful you introduced me to Spring Energy, it's been a game changer for long distance nutrition for me!!

I've been using little pouches of baby food for a while. Though it was my idea but turns out loads of people do it. These look decent, like souped up, technical baby food!

The gi distress as a result of the lack of blood flow is due to the stomach not adequately producing the mucosal lining in the GI tract. The detritus in your GI then touches the walls which causes a reaction. Good way to solve this is to take a prebiotic night before ;)

I actually quite like Spring Energy for longer efforts. Most of them are pretty good if you like bananas, since that seems to be a common base ingredient in a few of them. The only one I didn't like was Hill Aid. I thought it sounded great on paper, but the mint kinda makes it taste like cheap spearmint chewing gum. Interestingly, they all have different nutritional profiles, so you kind of have to pick and choose which one to take depending on what you're doing. They actually remind me more of food than just a regular energy gel. Good for long runs, day hikes, maybe race an ultra with them, but I don't think they replace a standard energy gel in something like a Half or Full Marathon where you just want that shot of sugar.

Sorry for double comments, but the majority of my workouts do not exceed 90 minutes and I'm running at low HR in a fasted state . Is that ill advised if I fuel within 20 minutes of completion? Or, how long should I go before seriously needing to consider fueling to avoid bonking?

Depends on what you are training for. Usually you should be able to survive a half marathon without gels. But if you run a marathon, then you should consume at least 5 gels by every 6 km starting from km 8. For tempo efforts, you can also take a gel, of course, but also some glycogen-depleted state training is good too to train your body on empty (which may increase tolerance against fatigue)

What about 10K ... and taking in consideration that my longest run in training is 15K so far ... do I still need gels ...

Ismael Diaz probably no... depends, if a race is less than 50 min nutrition and hydration DURING should not be necessary.. might be some prep gels...

@@kapii5251 shouldnt your answer be relevant to age? I'm 47 and my longest this week, and in general, is about the same (14k), but I do take a gel about 5miles in (Clif shot). I admit part of it is for after-run activities (biking home), but I sure appreciate not feeling internally devastated later in the day when i get home.

@@ricodelavega4511 I dont really see how age makes a difference. Its more about time than the distance really. So with 14k+a bikeride I guess you have a session in total longer than 50 minutes? When i have 45+ min sessions i always try to eat a banana/some oatmeal quite quickly after...

If you follow the Spring instructions you pay about 8$ per hour running on gels and hydration. That's well... absurd for some sugar and salt.

Tried whole spring marathon package and must say that I never tried anything more disgusting... Worst thing is that I never tried it before and took it for a half marathon race... Almost throw up. Sorry, but not for me
