    This video did crack me up. It’s the cheesy grin while drilling and not looking at what your doing. It’s the kinda Face I’d pull when havin a laugh but not when I’m drilling a hole in the side of my house. 😂

    11:40 - When you have one of those moments when you've done something wrong. I was laughing, as I know exactly how it feels and now feel reassured that it isn't just me.

    I was in the exact same situation (running armoured car6 to the garage) and didn't really have a clue where to start. Your vid helped immensely and i've succeeded in the job. Thanks for the vid!

    Do it! I had no idea what I was doing, as you can no doubt tell, and its still working fine. I'm actually running another one into my home office tomorrow, wish me luck!

    Yeah the drilling bit is familiar. I had Virgin installed last month and decided to run ethernet cables outside and for the second 360 box in our bedroom and another around the back of the house to our sons bedroom so his xbox doesn't rely on dodgy wifi. I don't have the skill or knowledge to cut the cables so got longer cables with plugs on than needed and doubled them up to take up the surplus length. It all works much to the wife's surprise.

  • @TheISaL

    @TheISaL

    Yep that's it, if you want more than one device plugged the other end you'll need a network switch or another router.

    Nice work! I take it the cat 5 cable goes from modem to the port inside your house and then you could put another modem from the port in the garage!? I have the same task to complete!

  • @TheISaL

    @TheISaL

    Жыл бұрын

    Pretty much ye! The modem/router in the house leads a router plugged into the other end. Doesn't need to be a modem, just a router. I actually abandoned the garage office conversion and cut the cable shorted and ran it into where the office is now in the house. All still working fine thankfully!

    @@TheISaL nice. I would assume a modem could be used if you wanted a wireless connection in the garage though rather than just direct cables into each device

    @@tonylomas3859 The 'modem' part is just what allows you to talk to the internet, you only need one of those between your Local Area Network (LAN - personal/in house) and the Wide Area Network (WAN - the internet). Where the internet comes into the house I've got a WiFi 'modem' router the ISP sent me, on the other end of the network cable I ran I have a WiFi router.

    I cant hear a word you say when pointing at the shed - did you end up keeping the cable above-ground? Trying to decide myself whether to bury or keep above between house and shed distance... Great vid btw, made me chuckle with the external wall drilling poses AND forgetting the box case each time :D
