More depression, anxiety and stress probably lol. People realising how much movement and running in particular helps and makes you feel good.
I'm 31 and started in January this year. Best thing I have ever done. Still depressed and anxious about everything, but after a run I do feel a lot happier, and I get the best sleep of my life. Not really made any friends or community, there aren't really any run clubs (especially not ones with 20-30 somethings) around suburbia where I live, but I enjoy solo running anyway. Lost heaps of weight, looking better and it's a good distraction from the loneliness and constant BS and worry that the world shoves in our face on a daily basis.

“Lost heaps of weight” itself is worth feeling cheerful about. There are not many people who can claim to have lost heaps of weight in 4 months. Cheers! Keep running, my friend.
Running has two attractive properties: It's simple, and it has a clear goal progression. From 30min to 5km, to 10km, half-marathon, marathon. Add the social aspect and being in nature, and voila.

Not every runner want to progress to a marathon. Most don’t even want to race
I run 5 days a week, I hate running, every moment of it. But the feeling right after is the feeling i never once had any regret

How long have you been running though? Because that hating running thing usually goes away after 3 months if you’re doing 5 days a week - and is your pace appropriately slow enough to benefit your aerobic fitness?

Because it's easy and cheap.... Well depending on how serious you get into it. With pro shoes, nutrition/gels, gear etc. Ish is expensive.
In Toronto, Canada, last fall a race that never sells out sold out! I'm trying to get into the Rotterdam Marathon, and I am going to be fast on the internet button.
Its good keep me in shape.
Same here in Indonesia
I am part of this influenced craze.
It’s relatively accessible to newbies but still has plenty to offer to intermediate and advanced runner. Cheap and healthy! Can be chill or challenging. And we can’t afford a vacation lol
Running has literally been better than therapy whenever life gets rough. It’s way cheaper too :) welcome to all the new runners 🐻
It’s in our dna deeply!
Fascinating story. Being an avid runner it would be fab to fly out to NZ and meet all these wonderful runners and also film for my KZread content here 📸
We evolved to run, to travel long distance on foot. Fight/Flight is real, our nervous system knows more clearly than anything you know in your life how to run with endurance and fight like no other animal. This is only natural, people flocking to the gym and throwing plates and dumbbells around, that should be in the news
I'm a Kiwi living in China with my wife, started running around two years ago. Often do a half marathon a week as part of my long run, in addition to running nearly every other day, have also done a short ultra marathon. Always running solo.
the same thing happened with cycling when COVID started
The same trend happening in the Philippines rn.
You'd freeze your ass off running at 5am at the current weather.

You warm up in no time. You can wear shorts and tshirt all year round as a runner.
Joined a run club and my dating life is alive again lol - not to be shallow, but at a minimum, those who attend these events are at least fit enough to run a 5K and that’s what I’m attracted to (someone who can keep up with me at easy running pace).
Running is therapeutic but it is not therapy.
Why so early, dangerous
Because you can show off your hot body on instagram all year around. Used to be 2 days at the beach per year.
