Wow!! Just wow. I am a System integrator and I just started 1 week ago with Grafana and I believe this is the future of the industry.

+1 this! I've added Grafana as a frontend to older electric and water utility SCADA systems and everyone loved it, using graphite/whisper time series DB. Recently had a system replaced by a systems integrator using FactoryTalk and the "XLReporter" reporting tool, and those seem less capable on the UI and reporting front and after using those for a while, users still want to use the Grafana dashboard, which only has a few items on it now as the PLCs we were pulling data from have been removed and replaced with news ones that apparently don't talk Modbus or DNP or any protocol openly available (more of that Allen Bradley/Rockwell vendor lock-in).

just watching this video made me feel so inadequate!. Agreed, he went to MIT, cofounded Instructables(used to frequent it way back when) but still he kept honing his skills and went to work as VP at Grafana!. total respect and BTW, i am completely sold on Grafana. But, Influx not so much. search continues for the perfect timeseries database.
