The first guy was hitting on that girl he liked, and they were connecting. Then the second guy comes in and the first guy gets jealous because even though the second guy isn’t as cool as him, the girls focus is still on the second guy.

It's not, like, a laugh out loud thing. It's a fairly normal kind of interaction where we see various levels of jerkiness. First off, the first guy, Jeff, is kind of talking himself up and we're not really on his side because he's kind of humble-bragging. Then Chris comes along and sort of takes over, pushes Jeff out of the conversation. So we don't like Chris and we feel sorry for Jeff and take his side. And then Jeff takes an underhanded shot at Chris, the whole interaction descends into awkwardness and we realise that we were wrong to have been taking sides in the first place.
