Winner of the multiple hand-to-hand combat tournaments Sergey Kharinotov made his debut in MMA in 2000. After a few significant wins he signed the contract with Pride in 2003, where he became the famous fighter because of his wins against Murillo Rua, Semmy Schilt, Pedro Rizzo, Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem. In 2011 Sergey fought in Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix and advanced to the semifinal. In the quarterfinal Sergey knocked out Andrey Arlovski.
In 2013 Kharitonov signed with M-1. Back then it was the first, but certainly not the last fight for Sergey in this promotion.
