Having heard your virtues, O beautiful one, those who hear it
relish your details and are freed from bodily distress.
In your form which fulfils the desires of those who see you,
O Achyuta, My shameless mind is fixated upon you.
kā tvā mukunda mahatī kula-śīla-rūpa-
vidyā-vayo-draviṇa-dhāmabhir ātma-tulyam
dhīrā patiṁ kulavatī na vṛṇīta kanyā
kāle nṛ-siṁha nara-loka-mano-’bhirāmam
O Mukunda, you are unparalleled in lineage, character, beauty
learning, agility, wealth and influence.
Which girl wouldn't want to marry a man like you!
O lion among men, who steals the hearts of mortals like me!
tan me bhavān khalu vṛtaḥ patir aṅga jāyām
ātmārpitaś ca bhavato ’tra vibho vidhehi
mā vīra-bhāgam abhimarśatu caidya ārād
gomāyu-van mṛga-pater balim ambujākṣa
And so, I have chosen you as my husband.
Know that I have gi ven myself to you, O Vibhu!
Let me not be stolen away by Shishupala,
like a jackal, since I belong only to a Lion, like you!
pūrteṣṭa-datta-niyama-vrata-deva-vipra
gurv-arcanādibhir alaṁ bhagavān pareśaḥ
ārādhito yadi gadāgraja etya pāṇiṁ
gṛhṇātu me na damaghoṣa-sutādayo ’nye
If my penances towards Devas, Brahmins
Gurus and Gods has been sufficiently done,
May you, O Gadāgraja, come here, and may my hand
be taken by you, and not by Shishupala or anyone else!
śvo bhāvini tvam ajitodvahane vidarbhān
guptaḥ sametya pṛtanā-patibhiḥ parītaḥ
nirmathya caidya-magadhendra-balaṁ prasahya
māṁ rākṣasena vidhinodvaha vīrya-śulkām
o Ajita, tomorrow when my marriage ceremony is about to begin,
come secretly surrounded by your army.
Crush the forces of Caidya and Magadhendra
and marry me in the Rākṣasa style, winning me with Your valor!
antaḥ-purāntara-carīm anihatya bandhūn
tvām udvahe katham iti pravadāmy upāyam
pūrve-dyur asti mahatī kula-deva-yātrā
yasyāṁ bahir nava-vadhūr girijām upeyāt
Without killing my relatives, living in my Inner Chambers,
I will give a plan, for you to come take me.
On the day before the marriage there is a grand procession,
during which I, new bride will go out to Goddess Girijā's temple.
yasyāṅghri-paṅkaja-rajaḥ-snapanaṁ mahānto
vāñchanty umā-patir ivātma-tamo-’pahatyai
yarhy ambujākṣa na labheya bhavat-prasādaṁ
jahyām asūn vrata-kṛśān śata-janmabhiḥ syāt
The dust from the lotus feet of whom,
great men wish to bathe,
like Lord Shiva, to destroy their illusions,
O Ambujaksha, If i do not obtain you
I will win over my tears,
and continue a hundred lifetimes of penance to obtain you!

Namaskaram, I have one suggestion. These Soundharya lahari & Bagvath githa and other video like this which shows- Lyrics , pronounciation & meaning slots can converted in to PDF & can be sold in GOOGLE BOOKS ( for minimum 10 rs or 20 rs) . Its my suggestion only

@@vednote as per many authentic scriptures Maa Rukmini is mentioned as Maa Mahalakshmi herself and Krishna as Lord vishnu himself for example read this it is from vishnu puran👇 'Goddess MahaLakshmi is forever united with the Lord. With Rama, Sri becomes Sita, when He is Krishna, she is Rukmini. In all the incarnation of Narayan, Sri is inseparable from Narayana. (𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗻𝘂 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗮 1.9.144) Likewise it mentioned in most of the authentic scriptures.
I am really moved by rukmini devi's bhakti and prem, what a devotion Saho!! Why wouldn't Krishna react to this!!!

Thank you from the depth of my heart for reminding me these lines which I had forgotten due to the passing of years. My heart had started to gather rust, but remembering these lines have rejuvenated it, and how. There is a scene in the Bhagavatam where the Lord talks about himself in a denigrating manner and asks Devi Rukmini what she saw in him, a worthless nincompoop, to marry him. Devi turns pale and swoons. The Lord then quickly attends to her tenderly. Please render those verses also.

Dhanyosmi Devi What a beautiful letter ....how could lord Krishna not accept..who is pleased even if someone just takes his name. Such an amazing way to propose. This still proves love letters were and are always best way of expressing This is so amazing that even the youth today can take inspiration from this on what should be the basis of a relationship and how subtly one can express it And the last shloka was touching..it tells what one should do in case of a love failure. Some serious message there

Of course, Sheela, it has romance, but people wanting to get more out of life would be moved more by the noble ideas of devotion and surrender, you see. Romance would be almost insignificant for them. Just romance would be too materialistic and plain for them to consider these shlokas worth singing almost like a prayer. Hope I could make myself clear.

Attachment to God is Devotion. Devotion to things other than God is attachment. So romance for krishna is madhurya bhav.. pure romance with Devotion and surrender. Nowadays people have spoilt the meaning of word romance. Doesn't mean the word is wrong.
