I just bought a slightly cheaper version of this. This one is much nicer for just a little more money. You can buy the diamond stones and you have a good system for very little money. I love the case.

Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night kzread.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.

If you can't sharpen a blade with a system like this, it's definitely you that needs practice and not the sharpener.

Not much of a review. I would call it more of an Unboxing and Demo. What do you think of it? How is the build quality? Pros and Cons? Didn't get any of that out of this video.

A good knife sharpener for its price.

I have bought a rx009 and used it to sharpen a knife. But it has two major flaws. 1. The knife fixing jaw is weak aluminum forge, if it titlly screwed some times screw thread could be erased. 2.knife fixing jaw moving holder obstructs grinder handle at low angle grinding, that means rx009 can not be used for high quality low angle sharping. So i have ordered a more traditional rx008 that has less height stainless steel knife fixing jaw.

Can you sharpen smaller or pocket knives with this system? All I see is kitchen knives

For smaller pocket knife, only one knife fixing jaw among two can be applicable that means knife can not be fixed titly. Moreover fixing zig holder obstructs the grinder handle at low angle grinding, that means you can not sharpen your knife at high quality low angle. I think more tratitional rx008 have no such a ploblems.

I don't get why every video showing sharpening guides are kitchen knives. It really sucks. Like there's so many videos about sharpening kitchen knives, it would be really good if people started showing pocket knives and smaller blades.

I heard the stones were bad quality. Did you sharpen a knife?

These stones sure don't seat very well in the arm. Keeps falling out as I use them... had to put a rubber band on the end of the stones to keep them on. Seems like there should be a better way... like the stones are missing end shivs.
