RUINED MY NEW TRAILER RAMP! Cargo Trailer - Crawler Hauler Camper Conversion Pt. 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In todays video we reinforce the ramp on our new cargo trailer. Seal it all up, insulate it, and try to test fit my heavy 1 Ton Jeep Buggy Rock Crawler for the first time.

Maybe add lil folding kicker legs on the outside half way up the ramp. That are just hinged to where they drop down as you lower the ramp, I'm guessing 2"square tube would work perfect.. and would stop the folding of your ramp... really enjoy your videos, keep it up!

Should make ramps on the approach side of the wheel wells.

Completely agree, I initially didn’t think I needed them because the wheel wells were strong enough to hold it, but I didn’t think about how much easier it would be to keep it all straight and controlled while loading if I had ramps. They are on the list now

bummer, my only fear of an enclosed trailer is that damn door!

Ahhh no big deal, learn from my mistake and reinforce it vertically the entire length with 2x6 and it would be fine! Just so little info online about other people doing this, so I wasn’t sure the best approach. Someone gotta be the test dummy 😂 I’ll get it fixed up no big deal

you didnt really do anything to add structural support to the length of the ramp.. you should have added additional heavy wall tubing going long ways down the ramp or even if you ran square tube at 45's between the existing support. the angle you added will help distribute the weight between the existing steel structure but not nearly as much as what youre asking of it.. and if you only welded the one side of the angle like you had mentioned that wont keep the door from twisting at all since its only welded on the one edge of the angle. you could for sure make that door hold that weight but not at all how i would have gone about it.

I welded the entirety of the angle iron. That ended up not being a problem controlling that heat next to the aluminum like I thought.

But yes, hindsight is 20/20, if I could do it over again (which I’m going to) id just replace the main structure with 2x6 .120 or something.

Build longer ramps out of angle iron to bypass the gate itself. My friend used to put his 4runner in a old ass toyhauler it worked perfect. Wish I still had my crawler was sick wheeling with you at Browns doing the face of Waterfall and stuff, I'll see you around in the SXS though lol!

Yeah I thought about that, but then I gotta haul those ramps too 😂 I actually just saw a video today of some random channel at browns camp with what I’m sure was your truck and it’s new owner. Bring that sxs out in the snow this winter 😂

3/4 plywood vertically with good fasteners would increase rigidity more then u prolly did…

yeah that would do the trick for sure. But then I have to store giant heavy ramps inside somewhere.

@@BackyardBeaters i dont use ramps with my SXS i just put it in 4L and drive right up on the end of the trailer. as long as your tires hit the trailer 1st you should be good.
