I got my SR22 yesterday in part because of this review. I traded in my almost new Ruger Mark III 22/45 (Model 10107). The Mark III kept chewing my fingers up and was just too difficult to disassemble. It was very accurate but it wasn't for me. The SR 22 is a great gun. It remedies all of the problems I had with the Mark III. This video was the catalyst for the purchase which I am very pleased with. I look forward to moving a lot of brass with it for a long tome. Thanks Sooch!

You can get them on line Amazon or EBay. free shipping for about $20.00 or so.I keep the polymer in my bag and change around now and then. Does it make me shoot better! Tandemkross makes stainless guide rods and 5-round extensions for the mags, but the modified mags won't lock back the slide. I've also found them to be unreliable feeding the first round when clear full. They work better with 14 rounds or in a 14+1 situation.

After much review reading, I went and picked up the SR22 about 6 mos ago and LOVE IT. I've put about 800 rounds through it without a single FTF or hiccup of any sort. This includes putting a few hundred rounds between cleanings (which is incredible considering how filthy the .22lr rounds are). Highly recommended! Ruger did it right.

I've been using a Ruger SR22 as one of my classroom guns and here is something I have learned. After about 5000 rounds the follower will start sticking and causes failure to feed but this is easily fixed by disassembling the magazine and cleaning it inside and out. Also, reassembling the magazine, make sure you get the thumb tab in correctly. If it is upside down, it will trip the slide lock before the magazine is empty.

This is a wonderful pistol. It is well balanced, easy to breakdown and accepts bulk 22 lr. Further, it's ambidextrous and for those of us who are left handers, it made using the weapon really nice. I bought two additional magazines and speed loaders. I ran about 400 rounds through the weapon using Winchester, Xpert hollow point, Federal copper head and CCI lr. mini-mag copperhead with only one stove pipe and one jam. However, using the CCI lr. Copperhead gave me nothing but trouble with jams and stovepipes. In conclusion, I recommend getting them 22lr. with the longer mag bullet because they seem to feed better and eject without issues. Experiment with other 22lr. ammunition. Thank you for your time. Be safe, and remember, always treat a firearm as if it were loaded.

Yet another great video, always enjoy your efforts and appreciate the time you devote to get it right. Our family now has two SR22's, have trained 4 family members and 3 friends with these excellent handguns. IMOHO, there is nothing better out there to teach 'real world' fundamentals, with the added benefit it will shoot anything in the .22LR realm you feed it. I ran 10k of cheapie Centurian through these and my 10-22's, while the P-22, Buckmark and Standard would not consistently fire or feed. They are also great for teaching how to break down and clean handguns at the entry level.

I bought mine a couple of years ago and cannot be more pleased with it. My daughter liked my Mark II so much she bought it off me. When I got my SR22 I cleaned and lubed it then took it to the range with a buddy of mine. I had a mixture of brands and nose types of 22 and mixed them all up in a container. We would load and shoot what ever came out of the container and this pistol never had a single issue with any type of ammo we fed it. We would shot it continuously till we ran out of ammo. We shot about 400 rounds and it was flawless. Good weapon to have in your collection.

Just bought this pistol and all I can say it's a fantastic handgun. Took it to the range and shot 300 rounds and was amazed. Just a fun handgun to use. My wife took it to the range yesterday and loved it too. Never had a handgun that was so easy to takedown and resemble. The magazines are so easy to load with virtually no wear and tear on you thumbs. I'm a lefty and my wife is right handed and having a handgun that is ambidextorus right out of the box is another great feature so we can both use it on the range. Also, almost all 22's don't allow you to dry fire but the Ruger SR22 tells you how to right in the owners manual (page 17) and suggests that you do so to learn the feel of your pistol, another great feature. This pistol is well constructed and feels perfect in my hand! I highly recommend that if you are in the market for a 22 go to your local gun shop and check out the RugerSR22, you won't be disappointed.

I had bought the Ruger American Pistol 9mm but after shooting it realised that it was not going to be a fun pistol to shoot. I saw videos (this being one of them) and decided to get the SR22. I sold the 9mm and haven’t looked back! The SR22 fits in my hand very well, it IS fun to shoot, it’s easy to break down for cleaning and I have been able to customise it a bit. Ruger has made a pistol that’s as near perfect as you’re going to get. I bought the threaded barrel and even it was easy to install. I have used CCI Stinger, MiniMags, Clean subsonic with no problems. Winchester high velocity, Aguila bulk ammo, Norma and Federal Punch. All with very few issues. The subsonic seems to have a few problems but if you alternate the load in your magazine, that seems to fix all but a couple of misfires. Great pistol!

I personally carry this weapon. I laugh at ppl who denigrate the .22 as a personal defense weapon. I read a study that examined over 15 hundred shootings in the US. The only criterion was caliber and the result. 30% of ppl shot in self defense situations with a .22 died. Never think the .22 isnt a fatal round. Any weapon is better than no weapon. And any hole in you that isnt supposed to be there is a bad thing. And in 100% of the situations where the attacker was hit...if he remained mobile...he ran away. NO ONE hung around to be shot twice. Your goal is to STOP the attack. With a .22...hit your attacker ONCE...and the attack is over. Mission accomplished. And with the price of ammo you can practice enough to be a seriously good shot. When I carry I exclusively carry 45 grain Hornady Critical Defense hollow points. I buy Aguila Super Extra High Velocity 40 grain rounds to practice at 40 bucks for 500 rounds.

I've also installed the steel guiderod as you and also reversed the rear sight blade (blackened) and added a fiberoptic front sight. I also run the CCI Velocitor 40gr 1435 fps (the GoldDot in .22cal). Of course my actual muzzle velocity likely around 1100 fps. or less. And yes, I do EDC this gun along with my G26 or G19. The SR22 is accurate and in NRA rapid fire @ 45ft I place more rounds in a 4" circle than either of my 9mm's. The SR22 was designed to carry. I also added an Olight PL MINI II (600 LUMINS) to the rail. I use a soft belt clip holster for IWB carry. In my mind, more rounds on target and quickly. In practice from either low ready or holster draw, @ 30 feet I place 5rds dead on target in 2secs. rather than 3rds with my 9mm in 2.25-2.5 secs. I'm 72yo and to me that's GREAT. Good review. PS: I would not run BULK AMMO thru this or any .22cal semi auto. They are LOW QUALITY and they will just piss you-off. They will generally function in a rifle with and occasional misfire. I don't want to SQUIB my day.

I have an SR22 and I absolutely adore it. It fits my small hands really well and It rarely has hung up. I call it "the tank" because of how durable it is, haha. If someone were getting a .22 calibur gun for the first time and didn't know whiich gun to get, I would highly recommend the SR22 for its durability, reliability, and accuracy. If you are a beginner shooter, or just want something small and that you can easily conceal, then this is the gun to have. I have put this in my handbag and it doesn't weigh me down at all.

just bought one. Only issue I had was on my first run was the elevation screw and spring popped out. called Ruger and had one at my door in 3 days. So I can't give a full review but I can tell you I love the feeling and the 6 shots I did get through it so far LOL

I picked up a Ruger SR22 yesterday and took it out to the range this morning. Very accurate, fun to shoot, no malfunctions what-so-ever. No buyer's remorse.

I'm a ruger guy, no doubt. Found this video after going by my local gun store and looking for a Taurus tx22, which they didn't have in stock. They did have the Ruger sr22 however. I was very impressed with the manufacturing quality and the decocker. However, at $525, in May of 2022, while I may buy this eventually to add to my Ruger collection, the Taurus tx22, based just on price, and a 16 round mag, will probably be purchased first. But.. not definitely.. :)

Count me in as a satisfied SR22 owner. I've gone through about 700-800 rounds, cleaned it once, takedown, cleaning and reassembly were very easy. This gun is a .22 with a big-boy feel and features. I gave $307 for it at Bud's, and have really enjoyed it. I plan on getting another Ruger, an SR9. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting a good little .22.

Had the Ruger SR22 for about 6 months, absolutely love it! The ambidextrous safety and mag release makes it perfect for left/right hand practice. Probably had 3-5 fail-to-feed, and 2 fail-to-fire of the 2,500 rounds I put through it so far. I shoot nothing but the cheapest bulk ammo I can find, which works just fine. Tried a new stainless guide rod and captive recoil spring from Galloway Precision, which did not work at all. Could not get the slide back on the frame with the Galloway guide rod, Galloway could not help or understand why it did not fit, so I returned it and went back to the plastic guide rod and loose spring. After adjusting the sights (waaaay off from the factory), I found the SR22 to be tack-driving accurate, and can typically put everything in the black at 25 yards. Much cheaper and more comfortable to shoot than my centerfire pistols, excellent for training new shooters and for general practice.

Great review! My FFL whom I just picked up a rifle from today has one of these he was wanting to sell for $200 that is in %100 condition. Was on the fence until I watched this review but no more! I am now picking up the this sweet little pistol tomorrow and if it were not for this great video review I might not have done so but the video being what it is, well it broke it all down to layman’s terms and I know for the price I am pretty much stealing this pistol from my FFL. Once again, thanks for a great review and long live our great republic!

I enjoy shooting my 1911 9mm and my wife has taken interest. I’m thinking it will be a good training and transition pistol. What are your thoughts?

I don't like to waste time with "reviews" that have too much blather or verbiage about unrelated things or feelings. Your reviews are perfect. No un-necessary talk, just good close up visuals and spot-on descriptions and impressions. I think I'll go on down to my LGS and pick up one of these little wonders. I have one question, but maybe best answered on a forum: can the DA trigger pull be reduced safely?
