Disagree. That may be true, or it may not. The ONLY thing which actually matters is knowledge of the location of the air inlet for the vehicle's engine. If it is low, as some are, the motor will ingest water and be damaged or destroyed, and the speed won't matter. If it is high and water can't reach it without submerging the entire car, then you can blast through. If it is hood-height, then slow would be more prudent, to avoid the bow wave.

@@125AXer You're wrong. If you hit the water with enough speed, it's like you hit a solid wall and can seriously damage your vehicle. The dark 4x4 demostrated that perfectly. Under perfect condition you want to go in, creating a bow wave and keep steady to stay in the valley just behind the bow wave. And most people forget that it is not only the intake that can cause trouble. It's the most obvious issue, but both transmission and differentials have breathing valves. If they are submerged and those parts cool down (due being submerged) the resulting pressure differential can suck water in through the seals. And you really don't want water inside your transmission nor the differential...

Lol, the Range Rover has a wading depth of more than 2 feet, this disaster could have easily been avoided by going slow :D

Surely it's not too hard for regular drivers through this ford to fit a snorkel to their air intake and raise their exhaust so they can barrel through without any problems. I hope the tow truck man charges lots of money.

I do lol, I was completely dripping wet from 8:30am to 5pm and I wear just may normal shoes but at the end of the day the footage i got was worth it lol
